Sonny Beck of ACI Member
Beck's Hybrids Honored by
IN Chamber of Commerce
The Indiana Chamber of Commerce Business Leader of the Year is described by the organization as an "agriculture titan". Sonny Beck, CEO of Becks Hybrids in Atlanta, Indiana was honored last week during the annual awards ceremony.  Sonny Beck was born three years after his father and grandfather founded the company in 1937. That was a result of Purdue University offering three acres worth of this "great new invention," hybrid seed, to anyone who wanted it. Sonny earned two degrees from Purdue, returned to the family operation and has led one of Indiana and the nation's leading business success stories.  Click HERE to read the Indiana Chamber's full blog and to view their video tribute to Sonny.

ACI Supports NGFA Statement to STB on New Rate Review Methodology
ACI joined the National Grain and Feed Association (NGFA) and several other national and state ag organizations in submitting a statement to the Surface Transportation Board (STB) in response to their Advance Notice of Proposed Rulemaking (ANPR) on a possible new rate review methodology that would apply to a subset of rail rate disputes, generally described in the ANPR as "very small disputes."  The statement urges the STB to refocus this proceeding on developing a streamlined, accessible and workable method for grain and other agricultural shippers to challenge unreasonable rates.  It also contains recommendations for improving the ANPR and urges that the STB proceed to develop and issue a proposed rule.  Click HERE to read the full statement.
