Agudath Lobbies for School Choice on Capitol Hill

On April 2, CAPE member organization Agudath Israel brought over 250 advocates from 45 states to lobby members of Congress on the Educational Choice for Children Act, legislation that would establish the first national school choice program.

Department of Education Halts COVID Relief Programs Including EANS

In a March 28 letter to the state education chiefs, Education Secretary McMahon declared an abrupt end to COVID relief programs, including EANS, that are operating under extensions approved by the current and previous administrations. The letter did hold out the possibility of exceptions to the policy if the uses of funds are necessary to mitigate the effects of COVID on students’ education.

Individual schools cannot apply for the extension, SEAs must make the application, which could pose difficulties for private schools in certain states.
