Summer time and the livin' is easy at Featherstone...

Ah, summer…how we cherish these lazy days when we allow ourselves to be free of responsibility, and to play. Summer is a time to hunt for tadpoles, rent cabins in the woods, go swimming in the lake, climb trees, explore, and eat ice cream. I agree with Marty Rubin “Every summer, like the roses, childhood returns.” Many of you will want find a tree to lie under and watch the clouds drift across the sky as you imagine what animals they resemble. For those not so reclined, breeze into Featherstone for a refresher on how-to- summer.

Cheers! Louise and Dave

Summer is when laziness finds respectability,Sam Keen

…and think how respectable you’ll be as you nibble on thin-crust pizza from our wood-burning oven and sip wine. You’ll find us at ease around the pizza oven on Saturday and Sunday afternoons, from noon-4:00pm until Labour Day www.featherstonewinery/veranda

On the beautiful summer afternoons of July 8 & 9, 2017 The Muddy Paws Wine Festival will encourage you to 'Come. Sip. Stay.' This unique festival is an opportunity to celebrate excellent wine and food in Niagara -- and to bring along your BFF (best four-legged friend).

On this weekend, Vineland Estates Winery and Featherstone Estate Winery will open their doors to friendly dogs on leash who wish to accompany their owners.

At Featherstone, wines will be available by the glass ($8) and the Jazz Trio 'MGM' will delight you all afternoon under the lovely canopy we will have opened for shade.

For the four-legged visitors, fresh dog treats will be baked in our wood-fired pizza oven. National Service Dogs will be visiting with their puppies-in-training. A portion of day's sales will be donated to the NSD. These are indeed the best of the dog days of summer.

For the bipeds, our handsome and talented Chefs will work magic on a hot charcoal grill. You can taste wonderful concoctions of  Rosemary & Garlic Smoked Pork porchetta sandwich with summer ‘slaw'; a Mexican Salad Bowl with rice, black beans, cilantro and fresh corn salsa; or Soup, Bread & Cheese. ($8 each). Pavlov himself would salivate at the thought.

Once a year, go someplace you’ve never been before,” Dalai Lama

This summer, we offer you the opportunity to go on a completely different winery tour … one that includes our hard working sheep.  We put lambs into the vineyard to graze from mid-July until the end of August; their primary job is to eat the lowest grape leaves that shade the grape clusters. Removing these leaves exposes the grapes to sunlight, which enhances ripeness and quality.

Our lambs are chosen for their quiet demeanour, healthy appetite, and excellent photogenic qualities.

The vineyard+lambs tour, which includes a premium wine tasting, is offered only on two Saturdays, July 22 and August 5, 2017. Tickets and more information are available at  http://www.featherstonewinery.ca/events.html. or by calling the winery: 905-562-1949
"August is the Sunday of Summer," we said that ourselves.
Join us on August 19 & 20, 2017 for “Riesling Revealed” -- an opportunity to savour Niagara’s showcase white wine in its many forms and flavours. Five participating wineries will showcase a particular aspect of Riesling’s personality in a custom experience. At Featherstone, we will pour our signature wine, the Black Sheep Riesling and introduce you to our lambs.
Participating wineries are Vineland Estates, Back 10 Cellars, Kacaba, Greenlane, and yours truly …Featherstone .
Tickets and more detailed information at  http://www.featherstonewinery.ca/events
or by calling the winery (905-562-1949).
There you go, a full schedule of summer events, only waiting for you and the sunshine to make it all sparkle.

Come. Enjoy. Celebrate.
