HIGH POINT MARKET
Fall 2017 Trend Recap

Showcasing the latest and greatest in design, the High Point Market is the prime arbiter of home decor trends for interior designers and the furniture industry. Here is our take for what you will see in the coming months...

COLOR
Color is still in. From pops to wide swaths, color is a lively element in trending design. While some of the colors are continuing to trends from 2016, the imaginative uses and variety of shades continue to delight.

Pink
The pink craze started in 2016 when Pantone named Rose Quartz as color of the year. The color reflects the energy of youth while pairing maturely with a neutral color palette. It is still going strong as it has become a millennial fashion staple.

Blue and Green
Blues are still king, and walls of darker blues are statement making. A prime example of innovative use of blue is Barclay Butter for Lexington, which was just introduced at Market. Striped and toile fabrics paired with mid-century sensibilities have produced a sophisticated collection, even with a blue dresser! Sherwin Williams has even named their 2018 Color of the Year "Oceanside," a collision of rich blue with jewel-toned green.

Jewel toned and deep greens have been trying to capture attention over the last year, but finally made it to the surface this year. Colorful accent walls, velvet upholstery and customizable casegoods in multiple shades create allure and a punch of whimsy.

Neutrals
Gray is not trending, it's a core staple of color in contemporary design. A color trend that continues to remains consistent is taupes, whites, and off-whites.  Always be fashion forward and fresh, neutral colors add texture, pattern, and shimmer to any trending palette.

VELVET
Velvet has cemented its spot as the latest "it" fabric.

Velvets were everywhere from decorative throw pillows, ottomans, and headboards and upholstered chairs and sofas. The uses are chic, sophisticated and give a nod to the past, without having to bring out the blacklight or Elvis painting!

RUSTIC ELEMENTS
Add a touch of rustic.

It not only adds visual interest, but creates a relaxed, collected look in any space. With the cultural embrace of the idea of repurposing vintage pieces, adding antique or vintage elements has become ubiquitous in about every design style.

RAW MINERALS
Natural bling is the thing.

Gorgeous stones, from shards and slices to clusters and geodes, minerals have great aesthetic appeal. And with nearly every color possible from dark purples to light pink and purely translucent, they can bring a refined elegance to any space. At this year's market, minerals showed up everywhere from the classic bookend accessory, to the sumptuous chandelier fixture, to the dining room table.
