The campers started 'Earth Week' on Monday by our first yoga visit in the morning followed by a trip for 3-5 to Wilderness Park. At the park, 3-5 learned about wildlife and nature by exploring the woods and trails. All campers completed a painting Earth activity that afternoon. On Tuesday, campers went swimming, played tennis and were visited both by Lincoln City Libraries and We Cook for snack. On Wednesday, K-2 traveled to Pioneers Park and hiked to the different ponds, observed ducks and turtles and finished the trip with some time on the playground. This week was also our first week for Girl Power Girls Summer Camp, which takes place twice a week for the rest of the season. On Thursday and Friday, campers completed more archery lessons, swimming, outdoor education and a science experiment!
Last week, we had six campers who won
Campers of the Week! These individuals showed outstanding respect, responsibility and demonstrated positive attitudes. In K-2, our winners were:
Tessa Gilbert, Grayson Goering and Aislynn Campbell. In 3-5, our winners were: Micheal Steyer, Nicholas Classen, Caden Wenzl and Carson Ramsier. Keep up the great work campers!
For Week #4, our theme is, 'Under the Sea'. On Monday, everyone will enjoy yoga, a themed activity and 3-5 will travel to Holmes Lake to go canoeing! On Tuesday, campers will go swimming, play tennis and get a visit from Lincoln City Libraries. On Wednesday, Josh the Otter will visit Air Park to teach the campers about water safety. Afterwards, K-2 will enjoy their turn canoeing at Holmes Lake, while 3-5 girls will enjoy Girls Power Girls Summer Camp. On Thursday, campers will learn more about archery, outdoor education and tennis. They will then end the week with a themed science experiment, weekly awards and an all group activity to involve all campers.
IMPORTANT REMINDERS:
- To reduce the risk of sunburn, please bring your child to the program with a bottle of sunscreen labeled with the camper's name to keep at the center.
- Tennis shoes are REQUIRED during summer day camp given the amount of physical activity we do every day.
- PLEASE have your camper leave personal items at home! This includes backpacks, toys, cell phones, etc. Items that are okay to bring are water bottles, insect repellant, sunscreen, swimming items, hats or jackets.
- Permission to use the vending machine is implied when campers bring money from home. We only allow purchases during lunch times and when the campers are picked up.
- Don't forget your swimsuit, sunscreen and towel on swim days.
- Please bring water daily. We can provide a water bottle if needed, but make sure it gets filled each morning. We want our campers to stay hydrated!
- Feel free to send your camper with a pair of sunglasses. Eye protection is just as important as skin protection.
Get out. Be active. Have fun!
