The Montgomery Township Health Department encourages all residents to stay indoors today, if possible due to the poor air quality in New Jersey from Canadian wildfires. Recommended actions to take to protect health on poor air quality days
 
The New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (NJDEP) has issued a Code Red Air Quality Alert for Wednesday, June 7 and a Code Orange Air Quality Alert for Thursday, June 8.
 
A Code Red Alert is used when air pollution concentrations within the area are unhealthy for all individuals. 

A Code Orange Alert is issued when air pollution concentrations within the area are unhealthy for sensitive populations. Sensitive populations can include the elderly, infants and young children, people with diseases such as asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), emphysema or chronic bronchitis. 

Stay up to date with the current Air Quality Index in your area and follow the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) guidance on staying healthy and safe from Particle Pollution.
