Air Quality Index (AQI) Policy
Sea Crest School will be using Purple Air website to monitor the AQI (Air Quality Index).

PurpleAir sensors measure airborne particulate matter (PM). Particulate matter describes solid particles suspended in air; this includes dust, smoke, and other organic and inorganic particles. PurpleAir sensors use laser particle counters to count the number of particles by particle sizes 0.3, 0.5, 1, 2.5, 5, and 10 μm, and use the count data to calculate mass concentrations of PM1.0, PM2.5, and PM10.
*School will monitor AQI when it reaches or is predicted to reach over 130 AQI.

Communication:

School administration will make a call for school closure by 7:00 a.m. for the day.

Parents will be notified via the emergency alert system.

*In the case that the AQI starts off under 100 and grows over 130 AQI parents will be notified to come pick up their children in our COVID staggered pick-up schedule.
Blackout Power Outage Policy (COVID)
During the month of September, Blackout days will result in no school (distance and in-person learning).

Faculty will be working on creating blackout learning materials for use if needed that will be distributed at the end of September for families to use in October.

We are unable to commit to on-campus COVID learning with a blackout at this time.

Stay safe and healthy,
Lauren Miller
