VOLUNTER SPOTLIGHT

Adele and Brian Bromley

Airdrie Health Foundation has amazing volunteers who work tirelessly to support the Foundation's role in the community. We are thrilled to profile Adele and Brian and share why giving back is important to them!

Shortly after relocating to Airdrie, seven years ago we came across a small notice that the AHF was looking for volunteers. As seniors, we felt it was a great opportunity for us to become involved in our new community. It soon became obvious that we had made the right decision.

We volunteer because we see where the foundation strives to meet identified health needs in Airdrie. If we can contribute even in the smallest way, we are encouraged to continue with our fundraising involvement. It is satisfying to see that essential health equipment is being purchased for our local health facility and that health programs such as mental health are being subsidized. We have learned that the Airdrie business community is very generous and caring.

As seniors, we recognize the importance of remaining active physically, socially, and mentally. Our involvement with the AHF has allowed us to achieve this goal. We enjoy meeting and interacting with our business neighbours. Fundraising with the AHF continues to be a rewarded experience for us. Adele and Brian

On Nov 24, 2024, the Airdrie Health Foundation, Woolliams Farm, and the University of Alberta were delighted to host over 70 guests at a luncheon focused on wellness and access to healthcare for the agricultural community in rural Rocky View County.

This interactive event provided attendees with an opportunity to share their thoughts and experiences with a team of research professionals from the University of Alberta. Many participants shared personal stories about their mental health journeys, creating a supportive and open atmosphere.

The University of Alberta team will now review the insights gathered during the event and will present their findings and next steps in the coming months.

Airdrie Urgent Care Center Upgrades

The Airdrie Community Health Centre Space Optimization Renovation project reached a critical milestone recently with the completion of renovations for Development Stage 1.

This stage involved the consolidation of community clinic spaces into a newly renovated space. The move of the clinical programs (Public Health, Postpartum, Audiology, Pediatric Community Rehabilitation) – was completed in early January.

Check out the photos of some of the spaces renovated during this stage of construction.

Advocating for healthcare priorities

The Airdrie Health Foundation (AHF) works strategically with various stakeholders and different levels of government to work towards enhancing health care for Airdrie and Area. The AHF feels strongly that Airdrie needs a hospital for our residents and will continue to work with stakeholders to ensure healthcare needs of Airdrie residents are being met.

The AHF would like to not only see a hospital built within Airdrie, but also increase funding to much needed clinics and bring in services that currently are not available within Airdrie, such as a dialysis clinic, Home Parental Therapy Program (HPTP) clinic, asthma clinic and more.

Why your voice matters

  • Airdrie is the largest city in Alberta without a hospital
  • Airdrie is predicted to grow at a constant rate over the next 25 years, to a projected population of 118,319 by 2032
  • Airdrie has experienced one of the highest growth rates in Canada and is currently the fastest-growing city in Alberta.
