Here is an update of some major airfield construction projects that are taking place this year along with regular airfield maintenance:
MKE is undertaking the final phase of a project to remove a taxiway and construct a new taxiway parallel to Runway 7R/25L. This will provide a more safe and efficient taxiway system for aircraft to traverse the airport. The following runways will be closed during the project timeframe from May through the beginning of September.
The main north-south runway (1L/19R) will be closed from May through the beginning of September which means the east-west runway will be the primary commercial runway in use. This will influence aircraft flight activity over surrounding neighborhoods.
Two General Aviation runways will also be closed due to construction projects. Runway 13/31 and Runway 1R/19L will be closed from May through the beginning of September.
At Lawrence J. Timmerman Airport, the General Aviation reliever airport located on Milwaukee's northwest side, there will be a closure of Runway 15L/33R from mid-May through the beginning of July for lighting work.

MKE WELCOMES JETBLUE
Have you heard? JetBlue has officially launched service from New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) and Boston Logan International Airport (BOS) to Milwaukee Mitchell International Airport (MKE)!
Air Canada has announced plans to resume daily nonstop service between Milwaukee and Toronto beginning June 17th. The route had been suspended since March 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Milwaukee Mitchell International Airport (MKE) has earned its first-ever Airports Council International (ACI) World 2021 Airport Service Quality (ASQ) Award for its success in delivering an outstanding customer experience. MKE was awarded a 2021 ASQ Award for Best Airport by Size and Region. MKE competed with airports across North America with 5 to 15 million annual passengers (prior to COVID-19). MKE is one of only eight airports in the U.S. and the only airport in Wisconsin or Illinois to receive a 2021 ASQ Best Airport award.
