Here is an update of some major airfield construction projects that are taking place
this year in addition to regular airfield maintenance:
- Multiple construction/rehabilitation projects on the airfield for pavement maintenance and removal will begin in June and will continue through December which will affect the following runways:
-
The main north-south runway, used by commercial airlines (1L/19R), will be closed from August to September which means the east-west runway will be the primary commercial runway in use.
-
Three runways that primarily serve smaller General Aviation aircraft will be closed. Runway 7L-25R will be closed from June to August. Runways 1R/19L and 13/31 will be closed from August to December.
These closures could result in a change in aircraft overflight activity in surrounding neighborhoods.
-
At Lawrence J. Timmerman Airport, the General Aviation reliever airport located on Milwaukee's northwest side, there will be a closure of Runways 4L/22R and 4R/22L from mid-May through the beginning of July for support pavement rehabilitation.
