The final numbers are in and, because of your generous support, Audio-Reader was able to raise $29,700 in just ONE day during One Day. One KU.! This was our most successful One Day. One KU. yet. EveryONE made a difference - thank you!



Audio-Reader's theme this year during One Day. One KU. was "making connections." Throughout the day during One Day. One KU., we featured several listeners who are able to make connections with their passions, interests and communities because of the support you give to Audio-Reader. Terry-Ann Saurmann, shown above, utilizes Audio-Reader to gain access to her organization's magazine "Pan Pipes." This allows her to not only connect with her passion of music, but also connect with members of Sigma Alpha Iota, the organization for which she works.

The next Audio-Reader Audio Store will be open on Saturday, March 4 from 1:00-3:00pm right here at Audio-Reader. Come check out all the replenished audio inventory including turn tables, receivers, subwoofers, Martin Logan electrostatic speakers, vinyl records, DVDs, CDs and much more! The Audio Store is free admission and open to the public. Parking is available in the Audio-Reader parking lot. All proceeds from the sale go directly to Audio-Reader's mission of sharing the gift of sight through sound.

Join Us in Celebration of Dan Skinner!

Dan Skinner, Director of Audio-Reader and Kansas Public Radio, has announced his retirement after seven years at both organizations and 49 years in radio. To commemorate this impressive career, we invite you to a celebration in honor of Dan and his contribution to radio.

Welcome New

Coordinator of Volunteers

We are excited to announce the hiring of our new Coordinator of Volunteers, Trish Dowd Kelne. Trish comes to Audio-Reader from the Winter Center for Restorative Justice, with a background in non-profit work in Lawrence and surrounding communities. We are excited to have Trish join the Audio-Reader team!

We also want to thank you, our supporters, for your diligence, patience and support in this transition period. It's because of you that we have been able to keep Audio-Reader's services running with limited staff these past months. Thank you!

We look forward to being back to full strength soon, with Trish on board as your new Coordinator of Volunteers!

Audio-Reader Receives Important Grants

Audio-Reader was recently awarded two grants for 2023. The Ethel and Raymond Rice Foundation awarded Audio-Reader $10,000 to be used toward Program Guides and Operations Staff. The Kansas Lions Sight Foundation awarded Audio-Reader $20,000 for satellite transmission fees, Program Guides and subscription costs.
