Meet the Team!

This month we want to introduce you to our I.T. Department! Headed by Mike Berger, the IT group is continually working behind the scenes to insure Airways Freight is a well oiled machine. From our AS400 programmers to our support team as well as graphics and Social Media, they are always on top of things and making us look good in the process.

Mike Berger - IT Manager

Mike started working at Airways in November 1997 on the night crew, 4:00 to midnight.  He became the night manager and ran nights for 8 years, then moved to days and was the manager of Anatomical.  After that he then became the Ocean freight manager.  Mike graduated from the University of Arkansas with a degree in Computer Science and took on a role in the IT department and has been there ever since.

Wes Penny - AS400 Programmer

Wes started as a contractor for Airways in 2002 writing code for the AS400, after a decade we were finally able to get him to join the team.  Wes has never met a puzzle he didn’t enjoy solving, from programming puzzles to jigsaw puzzles.

Lisa Townsend - Digital Media Specialist

Lisa started her career at Airways in November of 1993, taking a hiatus to raise kids, she rejoined Airways in 2011. With a total of 22 years, she has worked in multiple departments, from Trade shows to Accounting, to Claims and eventually ending up in IT. From there she has moved over to the creative side, working on graphics and flyers for Agents as well as all of our Social Media.

Conor Roby - IT Support

Conor started Airways in August of this year.  Conor does our end-user computer support, networking and firewalls.  He is in his final semester of collage for cybersecurity and he and his wife just recently welcomed their first baby!



Wayne George - AS400 Programmer

Wayne started in September 2023 working with Wes on the AS400.  Wayne comes to Airways with several years experience programming on the AS400, and we welcome him to the team.
