CLE Content Expands Through Partnership
The Akron Bar and the Cleveland Metropolitan Bar Association (CMBA) will partner this Fall to make our CLE content accessible to members of both organizations. By partnering, members will benefit by accessing a more comprehensive selection of local content, and still receive a discounted admission or "member rate," in most situations. At this time, Akron Bar members can receive the CMBA member rate when registering for CMBA CLE by emailing Dominica Essi, CMBA's CLE/Sections Coordinator. Shortly, we will add CMBA's CLE seminars to our News & Events and Calendar pages.

The Akron Beacon Journal
"Retired Barberton Municipal Court Judge Michael L. Weigand, 77, died early Wednesday morning after complications from a Sept 17 fall. Weigand served for 18 years on the Barberton court, retiring in 2007. Even in retirement, he remained active, filling in for judges in Barberton and Akron...When individuals appeared in his court, Weigand looked for opportunities to help them if they wanted to reform, said Barberton Municipal Court Judge Todd McKenney. 'He genuinely wanted to give people a chance if they wanted to do better in their life,' McKenney said."

New features include:

Briefs, Pleadings, Motions, and Orders

  • Users can now access hundreds of millions of Briefs, Pleadings, Motions, and Orders provided by Docket Alarm (a Fastcase company). Now Fastcase users can access Docket Alarm’s 400+ million documents.

Ground-up Redesign of User Interface

  • Our users have given us a lot of feedback about Fastcase 7’s user interface. We’ve listened. This release provides a full re-design of the entire interface. The biggest improvement: Fastcase now looks great on all screens — from 27” retina monitors down to the smallest phone.

Authority Check

  • Finding a case’s status — or documents that cite to a statute — just became easier with our newly re-designed Authority Check. Simply click on a document’s flag to see other documents that cite to it. We’ve separated the algorithmically determined Negative Treatment, making it quicker and easier to determine a case’s authority and status.

Tzangas Plakas Mannos Ltd. celebrates alongside their client, "...Gibson’s Bakery in Oberlin, Ohio, for an Emmy win for the CBS Sunday Morning segment that shared their story. Ted Koppel’s feature documenting the Gibson family’s fight to protect their business against false allegations of racism won a News & Documentary Emmy for 'Outstanding Feature Story in a Newscast.' As David Gibson’s last television interview, it’s a fitting tribute to a man who fought tirelessly to preserve his family’s reputation and demonstrate that the truth still matters. Being featured in an Emmy-award-winning newscast marks yet another first for our firm, which serves to further highlight the record-setting defamation verdict earned on behalf of our client."
