RESOLUTION NO. 121-2023 declaring it necessary to improve certain streets in the City, between certain termini, by providing street-cleaning services and street lighting; and declaring an emergency. Vote: Ayes: 13, Nays: 0. Special Assessment Notices will be sent by certified mail to property owners whose assessments exceed $500 per year. If the certified mail is unclaimed, the notice for those owners will be posted on the Treasury/Assessment's page of the City of Akron's Website. ORDINANCE NO. 126-2023 authorizing the Mayor or his designee, if awarded, to accept and expend grant funds from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Solid Waste Infrastructure For Recycling (SWIFR) Grant Program and to enter into a grant agreement or agreements with the EPA; and declaring an emergency. Vote: Ayes: 13, Nays: 0. If awarded, this project will purchase routing software, in-truck tablets/laptops with front-facing cameras, electrical services for fleet electrification, construction and operation of a stand-alone glass collection program, and a comprehensive community education and outreach program to optimize collection effectiveness and efficiency, material quality while reducing contamination, emissions, and waste.
Council held an open comment public hearing on the following:
ORDINANCE approving the 2023 Consolidated Annual Action Plan including applications and certifications for the Community Development Block Grant (“Community Development”), the HOME Investment Partnership (“HOME”), and Emergency Solutions Grant (“ESG”) Programs; authorizing the Director of Planning and Urban Development to enter into all necessary contracts for the operation and term of the Programs; and declaring an emergency. The Planning and Economic Development Committee requested Time.
The following items are up for open comment public hearing on May 15, 2023:
ORDINANCE authorizing a Conditional Use to vary the side yard area requirement to construct a garage at 70 E. Dresden Avenue; and declaring an emergency.
ORDINANCE amending/supplementing Title 15, Chapter 153, “Zoning Code”, Article 8 “On-Premises Exterior Signs” and Article 11 “Board of Zoning Appeals” regarding ground signs in residential areas; and declaring an emergency.
