THE ALARM OF CHRISTIAN NATIONALISM

HAS BEEN RAISED BY MRFF FOR DECADES; NOW TRUMP ALLIES PREPARE TO INFUSE IT

INTO A SECOND ADMINISTRATION

MRFF has been waging a non-stop battle against the dangerous, democracy-threatening ideology of Christian nationalism that permeated the U.S. military long before Trump came on the scene, or members of Congress began proudly proclaiming themselves to be Christian nationalists.

In fact, MRFF has been fighting Christian nationalism in our military since before the term “Christian nationalism” was even being used, let alone a subject of widespread reporting by the media.

Just the headline of today’s excellent article from Politico — “Trump allies prepare to infuse ‘Christian nationalism’ in second administration” — would have our nation’s founders turning in their graves and should terrify every American who values freedom.

POLITICO takes an in-depth look at Russell Vought, Trump’s director of the Office of Management and Budget during his first term and a potential pick for chief of staff if Trump wins a second term, who is president of The Center for Renewing America (CRA), a pro-Trump think tank preparing for a second Trump term.

POLITICO has obtained CRA documents, writing that “One document drafted by CRA staff and fellows includes a list of top priorities for CRA in a second Trump term. ‘Christian nationalism’ is one of the bullet points,” leaving no doubt of the extreme danger posed by a second Trump term to the religious freedom that our country was founded on.

There’s grave danger in conflating legitimate political criticism of Israel with outright antisemitism, according to one man whose family has seen more than its share of the latter. And he sees serious risk in policing anti-Zionism more than antisemitism.

The man issuing this warning is Mikey Weinstein, a Jewish man who probably experiences more antisemitism than any non-famous American. Because he’s quite famous among antisemites.

For the last two decades, Weinstein has fought for the separation of church and state. A veteran of the Air Force and the Reagan White House, Weinstein founded the Military Religious Freedom Foundation (MRFF) to protect men and women in uniform from unconstitutional proselytization.
