New Bright Path Program

Our new Bright Path Program was initiated on March 10th through 14th, 2017.
Preparing our youth who experience low vision and blindness to meet the challenges of independence, higher education and employment is a task that involves the whole community. The Bright Path Program developed by Alaska Center for the Blind and Visually Impaired with funding from the Pre-Employment Transition Services Program of the Alaska Division of Vocational Rehabilitation (PRE-ETS DVR) and support from Jordana Engebretsen from the Kenai School District, is ready to help meet these needs. This program will help set the foundation for students ages 14-21 on their transition journey into adulthood.

Members of our staff and volunteers, including Regan Mattingly, Lucy Zercher, Bonnie Lucas, Nate Kile, Robert Tasso and Caren Ailleo took part in the program which took place over Spring Break for 9 students from Anchorage, Wasilla, Fairbanks and Kenai.

Bonnie Lucas, VISA coordinator and Braille and Technology Instructor and Kevin Whitley and Rajah visit Senator Murkowski in Washington DC

Our client Tom and Kevin Whitley have been busy working away in our Manual Skills shop.

Thank you for joining us this month to view the goings on at the Center. We welcome anyone wishing to know more about the Alaska Center for the Blind and Visually Impaired and our mission to equip Alaskans who are blind and visually impaired for success in life and work.
