Youth, adult, and senior programs through the Albany Recreation & Community Services Department are now open for Winter-Spring registration. Click the button below to browse the selection of classes, camps, and programs to register for.

Residents of Albany are encouraged to apply for vacancies on the following committees:
Social & Economic Justice Commission
evaluates a broad range of data and opinions on social and environmental issues
affecting the welfare of the residents of Albany as inhabitants of both a local and a global
community, and make recommendations to the City Council on positions and/or actions
to take to address these issues.
Community Media Access Committee
The Community Media Access Committee advises the City Council on matters related to media access, community engagement and outreach, and information regarding local government matters in the City.
Arts Committee (Two Vacancies)
The Arts Committee advises the City Council on cultural and artistic matters within the City including the acquisition and placement of public art. The Committee adheres to the Public Arts Master Plan, the Art in Public Places Ordinance and the Public Arts Project Plan in order to support, develop and promote art in Albany and increase the economic vitality of the City. (One of these Arts Committee vacancies allows for a non-Albany resident appointee that represents the local business community with experience in the fields of public art, cultural and artistic matters.)

The City of Albany Arts Committee invites artists to submit proposals for the Albany Creative Justice Art Project - the creation of a new public artwork that will actively engage residents of Albany in creatively addressing past, present and future issues of social justice in the city and region.
Applications are welcome from individuals as well as teams, collectives, and collaborators.

AC TRANSIT WARD REDISTRICTING |
|
Every ten years a redistricting is conducted to redraw ward boundaries to ensure equal population and fair representation. AC Transit invites all community members in its service area to participate in the process of determining ward boundaries. The public has a voice in how the lines are drawn, and AC Transit wants to hear from you.
Attend a virtual Public Workshop to learn about ward redistricting affecting these cities:
- Berkeley: Monday, January 24, 2022
- Oakland: Thursday, January 27, 2022
All workshops will be held via Zoom from 6:30 pm to 8:00 pm.

WEEKLY COVID-19 TESTING IN ALBANY |
|
A weekly COVID-19 testing site has been deployed at the Albany Community Center at 1249 Marin Ave. Testing is held on Tuesdays, from 9 AM-4 PM. The test is a self-administered shallow nasal PCR test and results are delivered directly 1-2 days upon receipt at Curative's labs. There is no out of pocket cost for the test and it is available for both insured and uninsured; insured must provide insurance information.
ATTENTION: Appointments are preferred to minimize wait times, and take precedence over walk-ins.

CALIFORNIA MORTGAGE RELIEF PROGRAM |
|
The California Mortgage Relief Program uses federal Homeowner Assistance Funds to help homeowners get caught up on their housing payments. The program is absolutely free and the funds do not need to be repaid.

FIRST TIME HOMEBUYER WORKSHOP - JAN. 22 & 29 |
|
On January 22 & 29 from 10 AM-3 PM, two free workshops will be held to help community members learn how to create a budget, repair credit, and shop for a lender. Information will also be provided on types of mortgages and what to expect in the loan and escrow process.
This course satisfies HUD's First-Time Homebuyer Education requirements for federal, state, and local housing assistance programs.

REGIONAL FAIR HOUSING TRAINING - FEB. 4 |

Friday, February 4, 2022, 10 AM-12 PM
ECHO Housing will be conducting a Fair Housing Training for tenants, landlords, other members of the housing industry, and the general public.
Speakers will include Angie Watson-Hajjem and Adilene Solano to discuss Federal and State fair housing laws, and respond to your questions.

Updated COVID-19 Isolation and Quarantine Orders
Alameda County's isolation and quarantine orders are now aligned with the State's guidance.

More Than 80% of Alameda County Residents Are Now Fully Vaccinated
Find a vaccination clinic near you or call 1-510-208-4VAX (1-510-208-4829). Residents can drop by a location near them and don’t need an appointment at County-supported vaccinations Points of Dispensing (PODs) and most pop-ups. |

City Services Available During COVID-19
Counter services at City Hall, the Community Center, and Senior Center are available in-person to the community. Appointments are highly encouraged. All individuals, regardless of vaccination status, are required to wear face coverings when indoors in public settings.

Sign up for local emergency alerts.
If you live, work, or visit Alameda County, take a moment to sign up for "AC Alert", the Alameda County emergency notification system. Signing up will allow you to receive emergency and topical information about flooding, earthquakes, fires and other emergencies occurring in your area.
