VOTING LOCATION AT ALBANY COMMUNITY CENTER
The Albany Community Center, 1249 Marin Ave, will be an accessible voting location for Alameda County starting Saturday, June 4 through Monday, June 6, and on Tuesday, June 7, Election Day. Alameda County registered voters may drop off ballots or vote in-person on these dates. More information is available at www.acvote.org. Other Alameda County Vote Centers can be found HERE.

9:00 AM-5:00 PM

Tuesday, June 7, 2022 (Election Day)

An additional 4-Days Vote Center in Albany with same hours as above is located at Church on the Corner, 1319 Solano Ave.

JUNE IS LGBTQIA PRIDE MONTH
On May 16, 2022, the City Council adopted a proclamation to recognize the month of June 2022 as LGBTQIA Pride month in the City of Albany, and the Pride Flag be flown June 1-30, 2022 in Albany.
COVID-19 UPDATES
Alameda County to Require Masking in Most Indoor Public Settings

Effective today, June 3, 2022, the Alameda County Health Department requires masking in most indoor public settings to limit the impact of increasing COVID-19 cases on hospitalizations. The Alameda County Health Officer continues to monitor COVID cases and hospitalizations to determine when this Order can be lifted safely. Alameda County will not require masking in K-12 school settings through the end of the 2021-22 school
year, but masking is still strongly recommended. Masks will be required in all other children and youth settings, including childcare, summer school, and youth programs, as practicable.

Weekly COVID-19 Testing in Albany - Tuesdays and Thursdays

Weekly COVID-19 testing is held on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9 AM-4 PM in front of the Albany Community Center at 1249 Marin Ave. The test is a self-administered shallow nasal PCR test and results are delivered directly 1-2 days upon receipt at Curative's labs.

PROJECT UPDATE: SPRING SEWER REHABILITATION
The City of Albany is continuing work to improve sewers throughout the City. Additional locations have been added to the current project – please refer to the project map HERE for the added locations of work.

Construction activities include replacement and rehabilitation of existing sewer mains, lower laterals, manholes, and street and sidewalk restoration. Work is starting June 2022 and construction is anticipated to be completed in August 2022. Typical hours of work are Monday through Friday between 8:00 AM and 5:00 PM.
POLICING COMMISSION ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS
Establishment of a Policing Commission is intended to further community participation and engagement regarding policing policy and procedure. The Commission may make policy recommendations to the City Council and receive all legally public complaints from the Albany Police Department to determine whether to recommend that such complaints be referred to an outside consultant for investigation consistent with California law.

As included in Resolution No. 2022-31, the Commission will consist of a total of seven members – one appointed by each City Council Member who shall be residents of the City of Albany, and two appointed by the Albany Unified School District Board of Education (BOE). Applicants recommended by the BOE need not be residents of the City of Albany.

HEAT PUMP HVAC REBATE PROGRAM 
The City of Albany is now offering rebates for heat pump HVAC systems.

Rebate Amounts:
  • $1,500 for ducted systems 
  • $750 for ductless systems 
  • $1,000 for panel upgrades (w/ heat pump) 
  • Double for low-income households 

Heat pumps are incredibly efficient and can run both heating and A/C. Plus, they use clean electricity derived from 100% wind and solar power! Another $2,000 in rebates is available through the BayREN and TECH programs. Click the button below to learn more.
FREE INDOOR WASTE SORTING BINS 
This week, the City of Albany provided free indoor waste sorting containers to 27 Albany businesses so that local business staff and customers can properly sort their landfill waste, food scraps and organic waste, and recyclables. With proper sorting containers and adequate collection service, businesses can increase waste diversion from landfills, protect the environment and combat climate change, and comply with state and local recycling and composting laws!

Charter Review Committee
The Charter Review Committee advises the City Council on proposed changes to the City Charter. These proposed changes may be generated by the City Council or recommended to the City Council by the Charter Review Committee.
 
Community Media Access Committee
The Community Media Access Committee advises the City Council on matters related to media access, community engagement and outreach, and information regarding local government matters in the City.

Economic Development Committee
The Economic Development Committee advises the City Council on matters related to promoting vital and inviting business areas and advancing economic development within the City.
 
Financial Advisory Committee
The Financial Advisory Committee advises the City Council on financial matters including but not limited to budgeting, audits, long-term financial planning, and financial sustainability.
