COVID-19 UPDATES
Alameda County Public Health Officials strongly recommend everyone wear a mask when indoors.

If you are considering not wearing a mask, ask yourself the following questions before making a choice that impacts you, your household, and community:

  • Are you over age 65 or have a medical issue that puts you at risk of having a severe case of COVID-19?
  • Are you missing one or more of your COVID-19 vaccine doses?
  • Do you live/visit with people at risk of going to the hospital if they get COVID-19?
  • Do you go to work with your co-workers or interact with the public regularly? o Are cases high where you live or where you are going?

If answering “yes” to any of these questions, wearing a mask may be especially important. Individuals should speak with a medical provider if they are immunocompromised or have other health risks.

Find a vaccination clinic near you or call 1-510-208-4VAX (1-510-208-4829). Residents can drop by a location near them and don’t need an appointment at County-supported vaccinations Points of Dispensing (PODs) and most pop-ups.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommends a layered approach to reduce the spread of COVID-19, and this includes strong ventilation indoors.

  • Open outdoor air dampers beyond minimum settings to reduce or eliminate HVAC air recirculation.
  • Open windows and doors, when weather conditions allow, to increase outdoor air flow. Do not open windows and doors if doing so poses a safety or health risk (e.g., risk of falling, triggering asthma symptoms) to occupants in the building.
  • Use fans to increase the effectiveness of open window.

For more information, visit the CDC’s tips for improving ventilation in your home.
