Alberta Chemistry and Plastics Day 2022
Join us for Alberta Chemistry and Plastics Day on May 25 in Edmonton Alberta. Chemistry and Plastics Day is an annual event designed to build dialogue on common issues, better understand industry and government positions, and get to know new participants from both industry and government.

CIAC launches first virtual World Café event
On April 13, CIAC hosted its first Virtual World Café. Through this online event, industry members and community advocates came together to discuss how members can improve community engagement. The goal was to identify best practices and areas for improvement. Participants were engaging and willing to share their unique experiences and perspectives. Thank you to all who brought their voices to the table!

Emergency Preparedness Week
Imperial hosts annual Emergency Preparedness Week simulation in Sarnia, Ontario 
As part of Emergency Preparedness Week 2022, Imperial hosted the annual Emergency Preparedness Week simulation on May 2 in Sarnia, Ontario. Emergency crews from Imperial, the city of Sarnia and other industry partners carried out the simulation of a lightning strike fire at the company’s tank farm.

CIAC presents Responsible Care® jersey to BASES supporters’ wall 
The Bluewater Association for Safety, Environment and Sustainability (BASES) initiative provides for the exchange of information in Sarnia-Lambton on the protection of workers, the public, and the environment. BASES is supported by the Sarnia-Lambton Community Awareness and Emergency Response (CAER), Sarnia-Lambton Industrial Educational Cooperative (IEC), and Sarnia-Lambton Environmental Association (SLEA) and includes Responsible Care® companies. As part of Emergency Preparedness Week and in support of the initiatives that demonstrate the ethics and principles of Responsible Care, CIAC was proud to hang our Responsible Care jersey alongside our valued teammates at the BASES supporters’ wall.

CIAC pleased to see Ontario 2022 Budget provide key elements to support growth in province’s chemistry sector
On April 28, CIAC was pleased to see the Ontario government take steps to lower costs for businesses and promote long-term economic growth and prosperity in the province in the 2022 budget. The budget includes a focus on critical minerals development, electric vehicle and battery manufacturing and shoring up Ontario’s supply of personal protection equipment – items for which Ontario’s chemistry and plastics industry is an essential enabler.

New members appointed to the Plastics Division Leadership Committee
The CIAC Plastics Division welcomed two new members to the Plastics Division Leadership Committee and re-elected four members. The new members on the committee are Gulnara Gabidullina, Head of Section at Procter & Gamble, Domenic Di Mondo, Vice President, Technology and Business Development at GreenMantra.
