As High School Provincials wind down, club volleyball is just around the corner.

Alberta Volleyball is already busy preparing for another successful volleyball season and we have a few important reminders for all our members & clubs:

1. All Players, Coaches, and Club Staff need to become Alberta Volleyball members PRIOR to participating in tryouts. Visit here for more information.  Register as a RECREATIONAL Player.  Upgrade once you have been selected to a team.

2. Club Contacts- We have decided to completely re-do our Club Listings page as there was inaccurate and outdated information on the page. Members were finding it too confusing to locate clubs/teams in their area for their age groups. As such, we need your help to supply the appropriate updated 2014 Listing information. Please take a look at the page and send us all of the club information you would like posted to info@albertavolleyball.com (For example: Club Name, any website/social media page, contact info, tryout information, and Male/Female teams offered). We are posting the information in the appropriate zone, so please send us that information as well.

3. We have released Version 2 of our Tournament Schedule. There are many venues we are still working on securing, so this schedule may change and will be updated once we have additional confirmations from facilities.

4. The New for 2014 document has also been released with the full Season Planner/Competition Regulations coming soon. Please ensure you read this document and note the changes to the 2013/2014 Tryout Regulations (Important Download #2) and ensure that clubs/coaches are adhering to the new regulations and our Scouting/Recruiting Policy.

5. New 13-15U Tryout Period for Edmonton Clubs
Edmonton Public Schools Athletics has recently moved their 2013 Junior High School Volleyball Championships to December 6-7. As a result, Edmonton's 13U-15U club tryout period is Monday, December 9 to Wednesday, December 18 (Signing Date).

Edmonton clubs still have the option to sign 14U-15U athletes returning to their club from the previous year starting November 1 until the day before the tryout period (For 2013-December 8). Athletes that re-sign with a club may be asked to submit club fees when they sign. As of December 9, those athletes who did not re-sign with their same club are able to tryout for another club team (and/or their old club).
For the 13U age category, all tryouts will remain open and athletes will only be able to sign on the Signing Date.
Clubs and athletes are not obligated to utilize the early signing period and may continue to use the tryout period to explore all options.

6. If you have an upcoming
club tournament and would like it sanctioned, please contact Julie at info@albertavolleyball.com.

Signing Regulations - NEW for 2014
Please read the new signing regulation for the upcoming club volleyball season, as the early signing period for athletes returning to their 2013 clubs begins on November 1.  It's important to note that clubs and athletes are not obligated to utilize the early signing period and may continue to use the tryout period to explore all options.

The tryout process can be a stressful time for everyone. Alberta Volleyball strongly encourages the volleyball community to be open, honest and work cooperatively during the tryout period to ensure it is not a negative experience. Coaches and club administrators are encouraged to promote their club, but to avoid pressuring athletes to sign.

Athletes returning to their 2013 clubs: * Clubs have the option to sign athletes returning to their club from the previous year starting November 1 until the day before the tryout period (For 2013-December 1). Athletes that re-sign with a club may be asked to submit club fees when they sign. As of December 2, those athletes who did not re-sign with their same club are able to tryout for another club team (and/or their old club).  For the 13U age category, all tryouts will remain open and athletes will only be able to sign on the Signing Date.
* Clubs and athletes are not obligated to utilize the early signing period and may continue to use the tryout period to explore all options.

For all other athletes:
* The tryout period begins on Monday December 2 and lasts for a minimum of thirteen days; athletes cannot sign with a club until the Signing Date at the earliest (Saturday December 14), which is the last day of the tryout period. Clubs may not collect any deposits for club fees until the end of the tryout period, excluding a tryout fee.
