Albuquerque cultural and educational mission heads to sister city Guadalajara, the “colorful”, “eye-opening”, “immersive” and “vibrant” city, as described by STEMArts Ambassadors


The Mexican Consulate, the City of Albuquerque, Sister Cities of Albuquerque and STEMARTS congratulate the following STEMARTS Ambassadors who will highly represent Albuquerque in their educative and cultural upcoming mission to Guadalajara: Feliciana Mitchell-Gonzales (16 years old), Shaylee Mirabal (19 years old), Claire LeGate (20 years old).



Within the Sister Cities Initiative, from November 20th to 24th  an Albuquerque amazing delegation will visit its Sister City Guadalajara with a broad cultural and educative agenda and recognize the young winners of the program STEMARTS International Youth Ambassadors Program. 

 

The travelling delegation will be integrated by: Shelle Sánchez, Director of Art and Culture of the City of Albuquerque; Pam Feather, Albuquerque Sister Cities Foundation President & Fabiola Melendez, Co-chair of Sister Cities – Guadalajara; Agnes Chavez, Founder and President of STEMarts Lab; Bettina Sandoval, Taos Pueblo education division; and STEMArts Lab Ambassadors: Claire Le Gate, Shaylee Mirabal, Feliciana Mitchel Gonzales.

 







The STEMarts Ambassador program provides training and professional mentorship for youth aged 14-25. Ambassadors receive a stipend while developing science and space literacy and gaining experience in event production, international collaboration, sci-art communication, Extended Reality (XR), and digital media art creation.

 

This trip will strengthen the partnership between Guadalajara and Albuquerque and demonstrate the permanent engagement with culture, education, technology and binational and bicultural exchanges. Government high-ranking officials from the City of Guadalajara will welcome this amazing delegation. The US Consulate in Guadalajara contributed to the winners’ travel expenses.

 

We feel very proud of our partnership and of our young and talented Ambassadors going for the first time ever to Guadalajara, Mexico. When asked how do they imagine our country, they answered: “Colorful”, “Eye-opening”, “Immersive” and “Vibrant”. Undoubtedly, all that is Mexico.
