After the murder of George Floyd last year and reflecting on the importance of that moment in our collective history, Aldea now honors Juneteenth, by giving all staff a paid day off. Our offices will be closed in June 18 to honor.
Juneteenth commemorates June 19, 1865, when Union general Gordon Granger read federal orders in Galveston, Texas, that all previously enslaved people in Texas were free. 46 states and the District of Columbia recognize June 19th as an official state holiday.
