December 28th Update

As we wrap up 2023, I am overwhelmed with appreciation for the residents in the 38th Ward! The generous donations that we have received for St Cyprian Food Pantry, Animal Care & Control, Toys for Tots, Garrido Stray Rescue Foundation, and the 16th District Police truly mean so much! Your support and faith in me are truly appreciated. I wish all of you a healthy, happy, and prosperous New Year!

With celebrations winding down, it is time to think about Christmas tree recycling. I am happy to announce that there will be two recycling sites in the 38th Ward. One at Hiawatha Park and another at Portage Park. Also, Riis Park is a site located very close to the 38th Ward. Chicago residents can drop off their Christmas trees from January 6th through 20th. In observance of New Year's Day, the 38th Ward Office will close at 2pm on Friday, December 29th and will be closed on Monday, January 1st. Our office will reopen at 9am on Tuesday, January 2nd. There will be no City services on the 1st due to the holiday. Please be sure to have your black and blue carts out and accessible throughout the week to allow Streets and Sanitation crews to service them.

If you are interested in filing a property tax appeal, the Cook County Board of Review is now open. Please visit www.cookcountyboardofreview.com to file an appeal online. The deadline for filing is Tuesday, January 16th. If you need assistance, we will have the forms available at the 38th Ward Office until Friday, January 12th.

The 38th Ward Office is hosting a Property Tax Appeal Analyst Day on Tuesday, January 9th from 10:00am to 4:00pm. If you would like to schedule a 15-minute session with a Tax Analyst, call our office at 773-283-3838. Appointments are recommended but walk-ins will be accepted.
