Dear Friend,

After input from the community and complaints about cars speeding near Shabbona Park, a speed camera has been placed on Addison. To our dismay, the camera was placed in the middle of the sidewalk. The placement is absurd, and I have been working with Chicago Department of Transportation to have it removed. The camera was installed on the sidewalk instead of the parkway due to both underground gas and water lines. Please know we are aware and working to get this issue resolved so that all of our residents may safely use the sidewalk.

I am pleased to inform you that Shabbona Park and Portage Park will both receive exciting renovations as part of the Chicago Park District's Capital Improvement Plan. The renovations will include new tennis courts and pickleball courts. The project is expected to start this spring. I am looking forward to this long-awaited improvement to our parks amenities.

The deadline for filing is Monday, April 3rd. If you need assistance, we will have the forms available at the 38th Ward Office until Friday, March 31st. Exemption forms are not available yet, we will update our email when the forms become available.
