Alderman Reilly Reports

Alderman Reilly Celebrates Two New

Retail Openings

This week, Alderman Reilly joined with local business & community leaders to celebrate new jobs and investments in the 42nd Ward.

On Monday, August 17, Alderman Reilly joined with JPMorganChase to celebrate the opening of their new flagship Financial Center at 830 North Michigan Avenue. The location is the first in Chicago to co-locate a Chase Branch Bank & J.P. Morgan Financial Center, bringing banking, lending, and investment services together under one roof.

On August 19th, Alderman Reilly helped cut the ribbon for the new Barnes & Noble Bookstore, opened at 150 North State Street. Located at the corner of State and Randolph in the former Old Navy retail space, this new Chicago flagship store features three floors of books, music and gifts.

Alderman Reilly is thrilled to welcome these two new businesses to downtown Chicago - just two of the latest examples of a growing list of new businesses opening downtown. The 42nd Ward is seeing renewed economic activity & growth which is, in turn, helping to reduce retail vacancies in our Central Business District.

Cityfront Plaza Drive

The Cityfront Center West Association Repairs project is tentatively set to resume construction on Monday, August 24th and continuing through October 2026 (weather permitting). This phase of the project will replace the steel curbs and waterproofing on both sides of Cityfront Plaza Drive.

During construction, both northbound and southbound lanes of Cityfront Plaza Drive will remain open to automobile traffic while the construction area remains barricaded for public safety. During this time street parking will not be allowed on either side of Cityfront Plaza Drive.

Lower Michigan Avenue and Lower Wacker Drive

Project: Repairs to Michigan Avenue Bridge performed by a Contractor on behalf of CDOT.

Impacts: Beginning on Monday, August 3rd, the sidewalk at the northwest corner of Lower Michigan Ave and Wacker Drive with be closed to pedestrian traffic. The southbound curb lane on Lower Michigan Ave and the westbound curb lane on Lower Wacker Drive will be closed to vehicular and bicycle traffic.

Upon reopening of the west side, the sidewalk at the northeast corner of Lower Michigan Ave and Wacker Drive will be closed to pedestrian Traffic. The westbound curb lane on Lower Wacker and the northbound curb lane on Lower Michigan Ave will be closed to vehicular and bicycle traffic.
