Filming for an independent film will happen in the 42nd Ward this weekend, Saturday September 19 and Sunday September 20, 11am - 5pm, along the sidewalk on Cityfront Plaza. In order to park essential vehicles and equipment, the following streets in your area will be posted as a NO PARKING/TOW ZONE:

During filming, prep, and wrap, parking will be prohibited at the following locations at the listed times:

On Friday, September 25, Chicago Fire will be filming scenes on N McClurg Court, E North Water Street, New Street, and River Drive.
During filming, prep, and wrap, parking will be prohibited at the following locations at the listed times:
Full street closures on Friday, 9/25, from 9am -3pm:
- River Drive between New St and McClurg Ct
- New Street between Water St to River Dr
- McClurg Ct between Water St to River Dr
The actual scene itself will take 6 hours (9 am – 3pm) to film and will happen on the curved street in front of Lizzie McNeill’s Pub at 400 N. McClurg Court.
Hubbard Street Stairwell Closure
Alderman Reilly reported the rusted staircase at E. Hubbard Street and N. Wabash Avenue to the Chicago Department of Transportation (CDOT) due to pedestrian safety concerns. CDOT initially secured and closed the staircase. However, after pedestrians continued using the stairs, Alderman Reilly escalated the issue and urged CDOT to address the safety hazard. He is pleased to report that construction on the stairwell began this week. The stairwell will remain closed until repairs are complete, weather permitting, by spring 2027.
Orleans Sewer Connection - 310 W Huron
On Tuesday September 8th at 9am, sewer connection work began on N Orleans Street.
On the east side of North Orleans Street, one lane of traffic going north and one lane going south will remain open. The street will then be plated by 3 pm to allow normal traffic flow to resume. The work is estimated for completion in the first week of October.
Rehabilitation Work to Sewers
The CIPP sewer rehabilitation work will continue this week in the 42nd ward. The contractor has an anticipated completion date of January 2027. Letter/flyers will be sent to residents located in the immediate area to provide notification of the work once they begin lining the sewer mains.

"No parking" signs will be posted in the immediate area a workday prior to the start of any scheduled work. It will be necessary to close some lanes, but the streets will remain open to traffic. Work is typically completed during working hours and the Cure In Place Pipe (CIPP) being used is non-destructive and requires little to no excavation limiting impact to residents.
Cityfront Plaza Drive
The Cityfront Center West Association Repairs project began and will be continuing through October 2026 (weather permitting). This phase of the project will replace the steel curbs and waterproofing on both sides of Cityfront Plaza Drive.
During construction, both northbound and southbound lanes of Cityfront Plaza Drive will remain open to automobile traffic while the construction area remains barricaded for public safety. During this time street parking will not be allowed on either side of Cityfront Plaza Drive.
Menu Funded Resurfacing
The Chicago Department of Transportation (CDOT) is expected to continue Aldermanic Menu-funded resurfacing projects in the ward this week (weather dependent). The following streets are scheduled to be resurfaced:
- West Chestnut Street, from State Street to the first alley west thereof
- Pearson Street, from Wabash Avenue to Michigan Avenue
- Wabash Avenue, from Grand Avenue to Kinzie Street
- Hubbard Street, from Wabash Avenue to Rush Street
- Ernst Court, between Delaware and Chestnut
Lower Michigan Avenue and Lower Wacker Drive
Project: Repairs to Michigan Avenue Bridge performed by a Contractor on behalf of CDOT.
Impacts: Beginning on Monday, August 3rd, the sidewalk at the northwest corner of Lower Michigan Ave and Wacker Drive with be closed to pedestrian traffic. The southbound curb lane on Lower Michigan Ave and the westbound curb lane on Lower Wacker Drive will be closed to vehicular and bicycle traffic.
Upon reopening of the west side, the sidewalk at the northeast corner of Lower Michigan Ave and Wacker Drive will be closed to pedestrian Traffic. The westbound curb lane on Lower Wacker and the northbound curb lane on Lower Michigan Ave will be closed to vehicular and bicycle traffic.
Reason: The northwest and northeast corners of Lower Michigan Ave and Lower Wacker Drive require repairs and protective measures. Prolonging repairs will lead to further corrosion of steel and safety risks of falling concrete, resulting in the need to restrict vehicular and pedestrian traffic in the area.
Duration: This work will require closure of the sidewalk and the curb lane at the northwest corner of Lower Michigan and Lower Wacker for four weeks beginning on Monday, July 27th. This work will require closure of the sidewalk and the curb lane at the northeast corner of Lower Michigan and Lower Wacker for four weeks directly following.
CTA will still be able to maintain their routes in the area.
CTA #22 Temporary Bus Stop - Clark & Kinzie
As a result of the Clark Street Outdoor Dining Program, the southbound CTA #22 bus will now temporarily stop approximately 200' south of the intersection of Clark and Kinzie. This change will be in effect through October 2026. The regular southbound stop at the northwest corner of Clark and Kinzie will remain closed during the Outdoor Dining Program.

Noon Against War For Peace and Freedom
Please be advised of potential traffic impacts and temporary street closures on Sunday, September 20, 2026, to accommodate the Noon Against War For Peace and Freedom public assembly in the vicinity of Jane M. Byrne Plaza Park (181 E. Pearson St.), starting at 12:00 PM. Residents and drivers in the area should anticipate minor delays and plan travel accordingly during the event.
IAM Union Young Workers March
Please be advised of potential traffic impacts and temporary street closures on Monday, September 21, 2026, to accommodate the IAM Union Young Workers March along the route from 17 East Monroe Street (Palmer House), proceeding east on Monroe, south on Michigan, and east on Ida B. Wells Drive, starting at 3:15 PM. Residents and drivers in the area should anticipate minor delays and plan travel accordingly during the event.
Leopold Procession
Please be advised of potential traffic impacts and temporary street closures on Tuesday, September 22, 2025, to accommodate the Leopold Procession starting at the Museum of Contemporary Art (220 E. Chicago Ave.) and proceeding to SAIC Galleries (33 E. Washington St.), starting at 3:30 PM. Residents and drivers in the area should anticipate minor delays and plan travel accordingly during the event.
The World Stands with Wang Wang
Please be advised of potential traffic impacts and temporary street closures on Thursday, September 24, 2026, to accommodate The World Stands with Wang Wang parade in the vicinity of 648 North Clark Street and along Erie Street to Michigan Avenue, starting at 10:45 AM. Residents and drivers in the area should anticipate minor delays and plan travel accordingly during the event.
State / Lake CTA Station Reconstruction
As part of the ongoing State / Lake CTA Station Reconstruction project, a full closure of the southbound lanes has been implemented on State St, from Wacker Dr to Randolph St. Lake St, between State St and Wabash Ave, remains closed. Please click here for the detour map. This closure will remain in place until further notice.
Until the closure is lifted, southbound vehicles will be rerouted to Kinzie St, Clark St, and Washington St to re-access State St. Local business, driveway, and sidewalks access on State St will be maintained during the closures. The underground CTA Red Line train station at Lake will remain open. As a result of the closure on State Street, the following southbound CTA bus stops will be eliminated at State & Lake until further notice:
#2 - Hyde Park Express, #6 – Jackson Park Express, #10 – Museum Science & Industry, #29 – State, #36 – Broadway, #62 – Archer, #146 – Inner Lake Shore/Michigan Express, #148 – Clarendon/Michigan Express.
