Yesterday, the Special Committee on the Chicago Casino voted to approve the Bally’s Tribune casino proposal. Alderman Reilly and two of his colleagues (Alderman Hopkins and Alderman Smith) voted “no”. Click here to watch a recording of the Committee meeting (Alderman Reilly speaks at 57:45 and 2:18:31).
The City Council will reconvene on Wednesday, May 25th at 10:00 AM to continue this discussion and conduct a final vote. Alderman Reilly will continue to advocate on behalf of residents and vehemently oppose the permanent and temporary casino proposals. He is frustrated that the matter is being rushed so quickly, despite a number of aldermen expressing concerns about the veracity of the casino financial analysis, the long term minority participation plans, and allocation of payments to the City.
A livestream of the City Council meeting will be available here on Wednesday at 10 AM.
