Welcome to the July edition of the Alek for Oregon Newsletter! I want to thank each of you for the outpouring of support in the last month! It is time to take this momentum and focus in on how we can work together in order to defeat Peter DeFazio this November. My team and I have been busy every day since the primary election, and I wanted to provide a brief update.
I have continued to meet and work with community leaders about the current state of our Country. Let's work together to elect a congressman who will have their back. A few weeks ago, I traveled to Seattle in order to see what a country without police would look like and I learned that 911 response times have tripled, fights and violence rang throughout the streets, and rampant drug use was found at every corner. As your congressman, I will fight to keep you and your families safe. It's time to change some leadership in Oregon!
Meanwhile, Peter DeFazio is on a roll for terrible votes! DeFazio voted against condemning the defund the police movement, a dangerous effort that could dismantle or disband police forces across the country and against condemning the violence, rioting, destruction of property, and looting carried out by violent extremists who exploited peaceful protests. Additionally, a partisan $1.5 Trillion infrastructure Bill was pushed through the house last week, days after DeFazio said that he didn’t care if the Chinese were listening in on Congressional Committee deliberations and spending months defending China and the WHO. Mr. DeFazio chose not to limit the Chinese Communist Party’s access to critical American Infrastructure (including the electric grid, broadband, water infrastructure, schools, and hospitals) throughout the bill. 39 Dems had to cross over to vote with Republicans to fix this glaring issue. Oregon's 4th Congressional District needs real leadership and a congressman who has their back.
We are excited to have growing support with each day, and a tremendous second quarter! As we continue to grow our momentum and look to flip Oregon's 4th Congressional District, I want to remind you that I, too, am frustrated with partisan politicians who push extreme agendas and do nothing for Oregon. Peter DeFazio has failed. It's time for our community to replace him, and I am a fighter who will always put Oregonians first.
Oregon values are my values and I am committed to protecting our way of life. That’s why I’m proud to be running for Congress - to serve and to work for the people of the 4th district of Oregon.
