Guidance for Vaccine Administration for Pharmacists during COVID-19

During the Kentucky Department for Public Health COVID-19 Clinician Update held today, guidance was given regarding vaccine administration by pharmacists in response to a participant question. Dr. Connie White, KDPH Deputy Commissioner for Clinical Affairs, recommended that vaccines for newborns and early childhood initial vaccines continue for all providers. She also recommended that boosters and other vaccines that can be delayed, should be delayed for at least a month. This is in response to the shortage of PPE for pharmacists and other healthcare workers as well as compliance with social distancing guidelines. Guidance related to childhood vaccines can also be found in the   CDC Resources for Clinics and Healthcare Facilities.
