Alex Villanueva Poised to Lead
Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department
Los Angeles, November 7, 2018 – The ALADS Board of Directors has issued the following statement regarding the election for Los Angeles County Sheriff.

ALADS congratulates Alex Villanueva on his current lead in the election for Los Angeles County Sheriff. With 100 percent of precincts reporting and 50.15 percent of the vote as of Wednesday morning, it is clear that voters find Villanueva poised to lead the department.
Respecting the democratic process and the fact that every ballot must be counted, we commend Villanueva and his team on this outcome. These results reinforce that Villanueva’s message of change resonated with the voters of Los Angeles County, as it did with the membership and leadership of ALADS.
Should the final results confirm Villanueva’s victory, we look forward to working with his team on the transition of leadership to set the department on a new path of growth and success.
ALADS is optimistic about the future of the department. We look forward to collaborating with the Sheriff in improving public safety for the residents of Los Angeles by tackling the serious challenges facing the LASD, including low deputy morale and staffing shortages which were among the key reasons ALADS endorsed Villanueva. A membership survey with above-average participation reinforced that our members lack confidence in the incumbent Sheriff.

In this new era for the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department, ALADS remains committed to representing, protecting and serving its more than 7,800 members while they provide quality public safety services to the residents of Los Angeles County.
