The March Del Ray Business Association (DRBA) monthly lunch will feature Alexandria Police Chief Earl Cook and is rescheduled for this week (Mon. 3/24 at 11:30 AM, FireFlies Restaurant, 1501 Mt. Vernon Ave., more information).    

 

The City Manager appointed 10-person Food Truck Advisory Group will finish discussions on the feasibility of food trucks in different parts of the City- outstanding issues on the agenda include discussion on locations in the Market Square and Washington Street areas (Mon. 3/24 at 6:00 PM, City Hall, Sister Cities Conference Room).  

 

The West End Business Association (WEBA) will host a session of their Business at Breakfast Series, featuring Morgan Wright, CEO at CSI, LLC and Stuart Howard, Independent Associate at LegalShield, titled "The Global Threat of Identity Theft: Cybersecurity Implications for Main Street" (Weds. 3/25, 8:00 - 9:30 AM, Alexandria Police Station Community Room, 3600 Wheeler Ave, registration requested).

 

City Council will hold their second legislative meeting of the month (Tues. 3/25 at 7:00 PM, City Hall, Council Chambers).  Items of interest include appointments to the Alexandria Marketing Fund Committee.

 

The City Council will continue holding budget work sessions on the City Manager's budget recommendations.  This week's session will focus on items in the Safe, Secure & Just focus area (Weds. 3/26 at 6:30 PM, T&ES Offices, 2900 Business Center Dr).

 

The Alexandria Small Business Development Center completes its three part series for nonprofit organizations.  "Boot Camp for Changing the World: How to Start, Manage and Grow a Nonprofit Organization- Operating Well" featuring Jennifer Ayers, JL Ayers Consulting LLC,and her team of experts including Larry Checco, Page Moon, Ben Takis and Cathy Pennington. This session will cover charity rankings, financial operations, policy & risk, marketing strategy and developing an IT policy (Thurs. 3/27 at 9:00 AM, AEDP/SBDC Offices, 625 N. Washington St., registration required).
