Our annual Summit is fast approaching (October 20-22, 2024) in Houston, Texas. We have some great programming planned and are excited to announce our Summit theme for this year –“Algae – Transforming Carbon Into Opportunity”. We are aggressively recruiting sponsors, exhibitors and encouraging early registration.

Please take advantage of the early-bird special offered through July and locking in a hotel room (see registration, hotel, sponsor and exhibitor links below). We need you all there in Houston!

Related to the Summit, we are beyond thrilled to announce our Powerhouse Keynote Speaker, Mr. Shashi Menon, Founder and CEO of EcoEngineers. During this Powerhouse Keynote, entitled “Algae – Telling the Carbon Story”, Shashi Menon, CEO of EcoEngineers, will shed light on the crucial role of algae in the global carbon and clean energy economy. Menon will examine the historical challenges and persistent versatility of algae, discussing its integration into policy frameworks and its potential to meet global demands for sustainable solutions. He will explore how algae, through its unique ability to produce biofuel feedstock and nutraceuticals and capture carbon dioxide (CO2), can play an important role in mitigating climate change. He will share insights on emerging carbon crediting methodologies that quantify and verify carbon dioxide removals (CDR) through algae. In concluding remarks, Menon will offer an outlook on algae's future, urging stakeholders to recognize its full potential in building a sustainable energy ecosystem. EcoEngineers is a global consulting, auditing, and advisory firm with an exclusive focus on the energy transition; it helps organizations stay informed, measure emissions, make investment decisions, maintain compliance, and manage data through the lens of carbon accounting.

Federal Government Relations:

ABO continues efforts to recruit members for our relaunched Executive Policy Committee. The EPC will drive ABO’s federal legislative efforts to include interfacing with key federal stakeholders and policy makers. We are looking for member companies who can assist in funding the re-engagement of our government relations firm, KL Gates. A little contribution could go a long way! There are lots of efforts currently happening in Washington, D.C. that are super impactful on our industry to include Farm Bill reauthorization, reestablishment of the Congressional Algae Caucus and FY-25 Appropriations (DOE BETO) and it is paramount that ABO re-establishes its voice in these matters. Please contact me directly (jkallen@algaebiomass.org) if you are interested in learning more and or participating.

Thank you for all that you do and as always reach out to me with any needs, questions or concerns.

Regards,

Jon Kallen
