Martin Behrman Charter School and Algiers Charter are pleased to announce that Mrs. Trenease Knox has been named the Principal at Behrman Charter.
A native of New Orleans, LA, Mrs. Knox has been a champion for educational excellence for students, her community and herself. Mrs. Knox studied at Dillard University and Southern University at New Orleans. It was there where she developed the passion for merging kids' ability to learn and discover their creative potential through practical approaches. As a result, she received her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Elementary Education from Southern University at New Orleans. She continued her education and received her Master of Arts Degree in Educational Administration at Our Lady of Holy Cross College in 2008.
Mrs. Knox taught as an elementary school teacher in New Orleans Public Schools Pre-Hurricane Katrina, Algiers Charter Schools Association, Jefferson Parish Public School District and KIPP Schools of New Orleans. She has served as a TAP Master Teacher, Academy Leader, Response to Intervention Coordinator (RTI), Administrator, Executive NIET (National Institute for Excellence in Teaching) Master Teacher, and Middle School Director for a combined 24 years. While serving in these capacities, Mrs. Knox has dedicated her time and energy to focus on best practices that would strengthen students' academic performance and have a rewarding school experience.
Mrs. Knox's commitment to excellence is shown by her dedication to insist that teachers become reflective and proactive professionals by customizing students’ educational experience in the classroom.
