Algonquin to Receive $600,000 Grant for Willoughby Farms Park Improvements

The Village of Algonquin has been awarded a $600,000 Open Space Land Acquisition and Development (OSLAD) grant from the State of Illinois to support improvements at Willoughby Farms Park, located at 2001 Wynnfield Drive.


Planned improvements include new pickleball courts, a nature-themed playground, a multi-use sports court, a gathering plaza with water features, a restroom building, expanded parking, improved walking paths, and shoreline habitat enhancements.

Algonquin Community Survey Shows Strong Quality of Life, Village Services

The Village of Algonquin shared results from its 2025 Community Survey at the January 13 Committee of the Whole meeting, highlighting strong resident confidence in quality of life, Village services, and overall community livability.


Survey results show more than 90% of respondents rate Algonquin as a great place to live and raise a family, with a Net Promoter Score of 47 and service ratings consistently strong across public safety, public works, parks and recreation, and community development. Residents identified drinking water, infrastructure, public safety, recreation, and economic development as top priorities, with results informing the Village’s budget, service delivery, and long-term planning efforts.

Algonquin Project Receives Engineering Excellence Award

The Village of Algonquin has received a 2026 Engineering Excellence Award – Special Achievement Award in the Water Resources category from the American Council of Engineering Companies of Illinois (ACEC-IL) for the Woods Creek Reach 6/7 Restoration Project.


Completed in spring 2025, the project restored approximately 1,000 feet of stream and more than 26 acres of wetland and riparian areas through natural stream realignment, floodplain reconnection, erosion reduction, and native vegetation restoration. The project is part of the Village’s long-term Woods Creek restoration program, which began in 2013, and builds on prior award-winning infrastructure investments, including the Old Town Algonquin Riverwalk and Streetscape Project and the Souwanas Trail Improvements.

Algonquin’s Text-A-Physician program continues to see steady use, with more than 300 sessions completed in the past 30 days for common, non-emergency concerns including colds, stomach bugs, and skin rashes. Residents can connect with licensed medical professionals between 7:00 a.m. and 10:00 p.m., making it easy to access care when needed.

Parkway Tree Trimming Schedule


The Village of Algonquin will be trimming parkway trees in the Willoughby Farms, Gaslight Terrace, and Tunbridge neighborhoods as part of the winter maintenance cycle. Approximately 4,400 trees are scheduled for trimming, with work expected to be completed by April 15, 2026, weather permitting.
