Administration
In 2025, Administration supported Village operations while improving how residents access information and services. Key initiatives included delivering the annual community survey, producing the Village calendar and newsletters, expanding online chat and digital services, and launching the Text-A-Physician telehealth program, all while maintaining strong financial oversight recognized through the GFOA Triple Crown.

Police Department
The Algonquin Police Department focused on safety and service throughout 2025. Officers responded to over 17,000 calls for service, conducted proactive patrols and park checks, and strengthened community connections through partnerships with organizations such as the Algonquin Area Public Library District and Special Olympics Illinois, as well as events like National Night Out.

Community Development
Community Development guided growth and long-term planning in 2025, including the completion of the Village’s Comprehensive Master Plan. Staff reviewed development proposals and issued more than 3,000 permits, supporting reinvestment while ensuring new projects aligned with community goals.

Public Works
Public Works completed several major improvements in 2025, including the reopening of Presidential Park and Towne Park. Crews improved over six miles of roadway, maintained more than 200 acres of parks and parkways, completed all lead service line replacements, and made progress toward APWA accreditation following approval of the department’s first five-year Capital Improvement Plan.

Recreation
Recreation brought the community together in 2025 through 700+ programs and classes and 25 special events. Highlights included celebrating the reopening of Towne Park and welcoming the return of Algonquin Summer Concerts to the Jerry Kautz Pavilion, restoring a favorite community tradition.

Algonquin Opens 2026 Community Event Sponsorship Program
The Village of Algonquin invites local businesses, nonprofits, and organizations to participate in the Community Sponsorship Program, which supports events and programs throughout the year. The annual application period opened December 1, with priority consideration for Algonquin-based businesses through January 31. Sponsors receive recognition through event materials, digital platforms, and onsite visibility.

Christmas Tree Collection
Groot will collect Christmas trees at no additional charge on your regular collection day throughout January. No sticker is required. Please be sure to follow the Village’s collection guidelines to help ensure trees are picked up and recycled properly.

Telehealth Available for Algonquin Residents
With cold and flu season underway, Algonquin’s telehealth program offers residents convenient access to licensed medical professionals from home. Residential utility account holders can connect with a physician by text, phone, or video between 7:00 a.m. and 10:00 p.m., with no copays, deductibles, or insurance required. The program is available for a $6 monthly fee on residential utility bills, and households may opt out at any time.

Parkway Tree Trimming Schedule
The Village of Algonquin will be trimming parkway trees in the Willoughby Farms, Gaslight Terrace, and Tunbridge neighborhoods as part of the winter maintenance cycle. Approximately 4,400 trees are scheduled for trimming, with work expected to be completed by April 15, 2026, weather permitting.

Winter Weather Reminders
Winter parking regulations are in effect through April 15, prohibiting parking on public streets between 2–5 a.m. and after snowfalls of 2 inches or more until plowing is complete. Residents are also required to clear snow and ice from sidewalks within 24 hours of a snowfall. Learn more about how you can keep Algonquin moving this winter.
