Eatonton City Hall and all City of Eatonton offices will be closed Friday, April 15, 2022 in observance of Goody Friday. All City of Eatonton offices will reopen on Monday, April 18, 2022 at 8:00am.

Chamber Scholarship Program Now Open to Students
The Eatonton-Putnam Chamber of Commerce is proud to announce that the 2022 Scholarship Program is NOW OPEN!
The Eatonton-Putnam Chamber of Commerce Scholarship Program is open to graduating high school seniors attending school in Putnam County, current or future CGTC students, and the graduating high school senior or currently enrolled college student of a Chamber Investor in good standing that meet the requirements outlined in the application. Only one scholarship will be awarded per person.

Donate to the Putnam County Veterans Wall of Honor Park
The Leadership Putnam Class of 2022 needs your help. They are asking for donations to assist in maintenance of the Putnam County Veterans Wall of Honor. All donations will be used to restore the wall by placing substrate material and installing new lettering and military crests. Any excess funds will be used to maintain the park.

Meet The Author presented by the Georgia Writers Museum

For more than five decades, internationally celebrated author Alice Walker has touched the world with her artistic talent and activism. Georgia Writers Museum announces a special “Meet the Author” appearance of Alice Walker via Zoom to be held at The Plaza Arts Center on April 12 at 7:00pm. Walker will be discussing her just-released book, Gathering Blossoms Under Fire. The book offers a rare insight into the interior life of the National Book Award and Pulitzer Prize-winning author. Edited by critic and writer Valerie Boyd, this book is a compilation of fifty years of journals, spanning Walker’s life and her development as an artist, human rights and women’s activist, and intellectual.

Photography Class at The Artisans Village Art Gallery

In this class, you will learn to be in control of your camera (no longer will you need to use auto for taking photos). You will learn about aperture, shutter speed, and ISO and the relationship between them. You will become the master of your camera and no longer must you rely on the manufacturer guessing at what you are trying to accomplish. You will be able to have your topic in focus but blur the background. Or you can have everything in the photo be in sharp focus. When shooting in Auto mode, the camera does not know what you are trying to accomplish. And therefore what you get is left up to chance. So this class will put YOU in control of your camera.

In order to be successful, you must know your camera controls. So study your manual ahead of time and bring it with you to class. You should know how to go to Aperture priority, and then set the aperture that you desire. And you need to know how to adjust the ISO. I will show you lots of examples of my photos and tell you the settings. You will learn about exposure and composition.

Coffee House at The Plaza Arts Center

May Day Celebration at The Plaza Arts Center

6th Annual Eatonton One Day Paint Out
Saturday, April 30, 2022

The day consists of two main events: Workshops (advance registration required) and a Paint Out (advance registration recommended).

1. WORKSHOPS - from 9:00am – 12:00pm
We are pleased to offer two Plein Air Workshops ($45) taught by award-winning Plein Air painters and instructors Ed Cahill (oil/acrylic) and Brenda Pinnick (oil/acrylic). Each workshop only has room for 10 participants, so be sure to register early!

2. PAINT OUT - from 1:00pm - 5:00pm.
Artists must be 18 years of age or older. Registration for the Paint Out is $20. Please be sure to read the full rules and regulations. Artists must begin painting at or after 1:00 p.m. the day of the event and submit the painting to event organizers by 5:00 p.m.

Speaker: Dr. Harold Mock, GCSU History Professor and Director of Leadership Programs

Topic: “Living in a Nuclear World”

Harold Mock teaches at Georgia College, where he serves as director of leadership programs and assistant professor of history. A specialist in international affairs and transatlantic relations, he is currently writing a book entitled Dangerous Power: An International History of German Unification, 1969-1993. His research and teaching interests include civil-military relations, particularly related to nuclear strategy and defense planning in western Europe. He holds a Ph.D. in history from the University of Virginia, where he previously served as Bradley Research Fellow. Additionally, Mock holds a master's degree in history from Virginia and bachelor's degrees in political science and history from Georgia College. He is a member of the International Institute for Strategic Studies and the Atlanta Council on International Relations.
