We recently received this email from an Iowa teacher regarding her student:  

“Toby is a hard worker who has lived with several foster families over the years. He’s in our Jobs Corps program and when he needed tools to complete his class in automotive machine repair, Alice’s Kids paid for them. So, Toby successfully completed his project – and then got a part-time job at AutoZone! He will finish his program next month and will graduate with his classmates next May.” 

We were able to help Toby because of people like you. Your donation, whatever the amount, is used to help thousands of kids with similar needs across the country. The graph below shows how many kids we have lifted over the years, including a record number this year — and next year we hope to double this year’s numbers.  

As you know, from the beginning, we have pledged not to overwhelm you with requests for donations. Indeed, over the course of a year, this will be the only time we ask you to consider donating to Alice’s Kids.  

When our father abandoned us in 1962, we had to rely on a $200 monthly welfare check that barely paid for rent and food. Before long, we were labeled as “those welfare kids,” and we missed out on many educational and social opportunities. But at times our mom – Alice – would earn a few extra dollars cleaning houses, and she’d buy us a new shirt or a pair of glasses or pay for the field trip. She lifted our self-esteem, and today, through her charity, she is still lifting children.
