What you should do to keep kids safe
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has shared tips on how to safely participate in Halloween activities like treat-or-treating. Those tips include:

  • Avoid direct contact with trick-or-treaters.
  • Give out treats outdoors, if possible.
  • Set up a station with individually bagged treats for kids to take.
  • Wash hands before handling treats.
  • Wear a mask

Shots required for more than 55,000 staff
All licensed day care workers in Illinois must receive COVID-19 vaccine shots by early January or undergo weekly testing for the virus under an order issued Friday by. Gov. J.B. Pritzker.

Children ages 5 to 11 may be eligible for COVID-19 vaccines by early next month, according to Dr. Anthony Fauci.The Illinois Department of Public Health today reported 15,131 new confirmed cases and 183 additional deaths in one week.

Kane County announced that as of Oct. 30, 2021, the recycling center at 517 E. Fabyan Parkway in Batavia will once again be open on Saturday mornings!

Veteran Service Officer Steven Wells, an employee of the Veterans Assistance Commission of Kane County, is the recipient of the inaugural Steve Barrett Veteran Service Officer of the Year Award, presented by the Illinois Association of County Veterans Assistance Commissions.
