Panel Discussion: The Future of Fashion

thought  provoking event to inspire and celebrate Pittsburgh Fashion Week! The panel discussion will be held at Truefit, Union Trust building. 

Our PGHFW speakers will be Amanda Cosco (Founder of Electric Runway), Gemma Sole (COO and Co-founder of Nineteenth Amendment), and Dee Schlotter (Senior Marketing Manager of PPG Industries). 

From 6:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m., Networking and light snacks will be provided (Alcohol Beverages will not be available at this event).

PGHFW Runway on  Thursday, Sept. 20th

A showcase of existing and emerging talent on Pittsburgh's Runway.  The DowntownCDC is proud to present the following collections on PGHFW's runway Thursday, September 20th at the Wintergardens.

This year's PGHFW Designers are: 
 
Andre Jones, a  multidisciplinary artist, Andre Jones brings his graphic artwork to the PGHFW runway for the very first time. His collection is coolness personified mixed with street style. The brand pulls massive influence from pop culture, giving it a playful feeling, while maintaining runway chic and adventure. Inspired by the "working girls" of the inner city, this collection is called "West End Girls". Andre presents to you a modern approach to 1980's streetwear.

Anna Lemley is a contemporary ready-to-wear designer for the independent woman on the cutting edge of fashion. She contrasts tailored garments with simple silhouettes that complement each other to create pieces that suit all styles. She provides pieces that are essential to any wardrobe. 

Bernice Yu Royal, avant-garde, Decadent. Bernice Yu is a Pittsburgh native currently attending Carnegie Mellon University, pursuing writing and design. A lifelong lover of fashion, she values combining textile art, sustainable fashion, and bold and extravagant silhouettes. 

Elaine Healy x King Reld;  Elaine is an American fashion & apparel designer based in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. With dual Bachelor's degrees in Fashion Design & Printmaking, she is interested in the intersection of personal style & fine art. Elaine will be collaborating on a collection with King Reld for the 2018 PGHFW Runway.
KING RELD is a metalsmith and designer who graduated with a Bachelors from Chatham University. Her work explores how expectations of beauty standards affect consumerist perspectives on luxury and high-end goods.

Lauria Pascuzzi is an avant-garde designer from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. She is a graduate from The Art Institute of Pittsburgh with a Bachelor of Science degree in Fashion Design. 

Mad Recital is an experimental clothing and accessories label, EST. 2010. Designed by power duo Richard Ramirez (Richard Saenz) and Sean E. Matzus, this avant-garde brand focuses on deconstruction, re-purposed garments, handmade techniques, alternative visions of beauty and unconventional designs. The latest collection was inspired by German dada artist Hannah Höch's photomontage work and techniques from this artist can be seen in their collection. Mad Recital's PGHFW collection is dedicated to the memory of Marlane Matzus (Sean's mother).

Oona Natesan Minimal and modern clothing. Using highlights of embroidery, the collection focuses on interpreting contemporary cuts and styles with Indian textile and fabric. The collection focuses on topics relevant to today such as sustainability, up cycling and the use of natural fiber.

This Year's PGHFW Team Members

Natalie Nguyen graduated from Carlow University in 2017 with a degree in Business Management and a double minor in Communications and Human Resources. She started working at The DowntownCDC this year as the Executive Assistant of John Valentine, Executive Director. Natalie is achievement-driven and goal-oriented and has used her skills upon joining the Pittsburgh Fashion Week team. They are working to bring new and emerging talent to Pittsburgh, as well as working with the upcoming designers that bring out the talent of the city. In addition, with her skill sets, she deals with the administrative role of the team. Natalie is very excited to see the transformations and expansions of this year's 3rd annual Fashion Week come alive for the Pittsburgh region.

Elysia Newman is a connector of dots, fanatic of fashion and resource for all things brand-driven. For over 8 years, she has spearheaded experiential projects from beginning to end, working in the fashion, design and entertainment industries. Her foundation of knowledge in the realms of branding and digital marketing have grown in her various roles throughout her career. Building her own brand, Identity Crisis, she has worn multiple hats understanding the comprehensive demands of a business owner. Through her past agency life and current role as a Digital Brand Manager, she gained professional insight on the strategic branding process, working with clients of all industries and sizes. 

Suzanne Mauro, w ith a career over three decades in fashion, Suzanne is a fashion educator for The Art Institute of Pittsburgh, Propel Schools and the Cultural Trust Art Programs. She is a media and  fashion stylist, web-caster , author, image consultant, mentor for fashion teen boards, creator of Fashion Over 60 Workshops  for UPMC Pittsburgh, visual stylist, trend forecaster and producer for this year's Pittsburgh Fashion Week.  As a cultural Innovator she is passionate about her students and creating the next generation of fashion innovators.

Renee McCafferty has been connecting creatives with opportunities for over twenty years. She has experience in higher education, business and with nonprofit organizations.  As a member of the Pittsburgh Fashion Week team she utilizes her event planning and data management skills to help create a dynamic event. 

Anastasiya Maksakova has joined the Pittsburgh Fashion Week team for the first time with the goal to support the effort of bringing new and emerging talent to Pittsburgh and highlighting the designers we have in our great city.  With her extensive community involvement, she is responsible for community outreach. Outside of PFW activities, Anastasiya is a financial industry professional, aspiring golfer, traveler, mentor and active alumnus of La Roche College and Robert Morris University. Anastasiya is an active supporter of local and national non-profit organizations with her Touchstone Crystal by Swarovski Crystals for a Cause initiative.   

Katherine Delgrande-Zesch For over 25 years she has been recognized as a international educator, NYC Fashion Week veteran, celebrity stylist, master colorist and make-up artist. Working with Redken, Hair Club, Cutler Salon, Warren & Tricomi, Dior, YSL and Lanc ôme. Currently she is the owner of Simplicity Mobile Spa and a Salon Consultant

Reese Randall is a freelance producer, writer and stylist. She began her career as an  agent representing models for print and runway at The Docherty Agency, while working  freelance as a writer and editor. After her fifteen-year career as the fashion editor for  Pittsburgh magazine, Reese expanded her skills as a print producer and editor and  turned to multi-media production. She is a freelance contributing fashion and food writer  to TABLE magazine and IN Community magazine and has been published in Delta Sky  magazine, in which she presented the idea of what the "It" scene is in Pittsburgh. Reese  has also worked as a photo shoot producer for fashion designer, Kiya Tomlin; and is a  photo stylist for Time Inc.'s Money magazine, GNC, Dick's Sporting Goods and Thurner  Photography. She is also a writer and print producer for The POISE Foundation. In  building her style brand, Reese is the personal stylist to Dr. G (NBC's Today Show  Contributor & Taste Maker).
