130 Years of Sustainability
Limoneira held its inaugural Investor Day on June 26th, 2023! The day featured highlights of Limoneira's business achievements in recent years and our strategic vision for the future. We spent the time showing off our sustainability initiatives through a live exhibition of our farming, water, and solar operations—receiving praise for the effort and innovation through which Limoneira has pursued ESG.

Amy Fukutomi, Vice President of Compliance & Corporate Secretary, commented, "Our commitment to ESG is deeply embedded in our culture. We have 130 years of sustainability success."

We are very excited about our Limoneira future!

A Limoneira Original
New Lemons on the Block—the Limco 8A Lemon! Back in the 1940s, Limoneira developed the Limco 8A right in Limoneira's Olivelands 8-A Orchard. This variety of lemons is more resistant to disease, yields more fruit, is high in quality, and has a longer shelf-life. The Limco 8A remains one of the standard bearers in lemon production worldwide. Innovation is at the heart of the Limoneira way, aiming to bring you the best citrus!

Lemons on the Field
Take me out to the lemon grove! Take me out to the fields!
What do baseball and lemons have in common? Bob Lemon and Chet Lemon! As baseball season enters into full swing, let's talk about Limoneira's favorite players.
Bob was a pitcher and manager in the MLB and was elected to the National Baseball of Fame in 1976. As a player, Bob was a 7-time all-star and 2-time world series champion.
Chet is a former MLB outfielder and had the highest single-season tally of outfield putouts since 1951. He was a 3-time all-star and world series champion.

Innovation in the Orchards
Limoneira has teamed up with Norwegian company Desert Control! We are applying their Liquid Natural Clay (LNC) to the soil in our orchards in Yuma. LNC helps restore & enhance our soil ecosystems. This allows us to reduce our water usage & helps us improve our water and fertilizer efficiency!

Limoneira in the USA!
Limoneira's got a new partner in lime! The US Department of Agriculture (USDA) is investing more than $3.1 billion in 141 projects geared toward helping climate-smart farmers. The USDA is funding the project "A Vibrant Future," where Limoneira, along with other industry partners, are adopting more climate-smart practices and processes to produce climate-smart produce. Limoneira is proud to be a part of creating a Vibrant Future with the best quality climate-smart citrus!

What In The World
In honor of Lemon Juice Day, observed on August 29th, let's take a walk through the history of the lemon! Lemons are thought to have first grown in Assam, a region in northeast India. From there, it made its way to Europe through the Mediterranean. The lemon was brought to the Americas in 1493 when Christopher Columbus brought lemon seeds to Hispaniola. By the 1800s, lemons are a sign of wealth, and people grow trees outside of their homes to show their affluence and perfume their lawns with the delicious scent of citrus. During the California Gold Rush in 1849, lemons are in high demand for their scurvy-preventing properties. In the 1900s, the name "Lemon" becomes popular for boys and girls. With a history like that, lemons truly are the very zest!
