Special Convention to Elect the Tenth Bishop of Maine

Thank you for registering for the Special Convention to Elect the Tenth Bishop of Maine. We'll come together on Saturday, February 9th at the Cross Insurance Center at 515 Main Street in Bangor. Please read through this email carefully for  important information and let us know if you have questions. Keep an eye out for updates by checking bishopquest.episcopalmaine.org. WEATHER

The Electing Convention will only be postponed in the event of severe weather or emergency. The snow date is February 23rd.
In the event of severe weather that prohibits safe travel to Bangor, information will be posted as soon as possible to the BishopQuest and EpiscopalMaine websites, Facebook, Twitter and Instagram, and sent to all delegates via email (Constant Contact). In addition, all Priests-in-Charge will receive a text message to their cell phones from our "AlertMedia" system. While we can't predict the timing for such notifications, every effort will be made to inform convention-goers as soon as possible. Please note that you are free to make your own decisions about safe travel due to weather conditions in your area. 
DIRECTIONS & PARKING

The Cross Insurance Center is located at 515 Main St, Bangor. 
Guests should use the Rotunda Entrance at the corner of Main Street and Buck Street.
A ticketed event will be taking place in the arena so you should not use other entrances.

DIRECTIONS FROM I-95 NORTH OR SOUTH:
Take Exit 182 A to I-395 East.
Follow to Exit 3B (Main Street)
Take a right onto Main Street.
Parking garage (Hollywood Casino Hotel) will be on your right.
Venue (Cross Center) will be on your left.

DIRECTIONS FROM 1A:
From Ellsworth, travel to I-395 West.
Follow to Exit 3 (Main Street)
Take a right onto Main Street.
Parking garage (Hollywood Casino Hotel) will be on your right.
Venue (Cross Center) will be on your left.
FREE PARKING:
Hollywood Casino Hotel Parking Garage
The most conveniently located free parking is at the Hollywood Casino Hotel Garage at 500 Main Street directly across Main Street from the Rotunda Entrance. To enter the garage from Main Street, take a right onto Lincoln Street past the casino. Drive up the slope which leads to floor 2 and 3 of the garage.
Track Lot / "Free Parking"
Take Bass Park Boulevard and turn left onto Dutton Street to access the lot on your left.
Middle Buck Lot / "Parking"
Located along the race track accessed through the Buck Street entrance

PAID PARKING:
Due to a ticketed event being held in the arena on the same day, the VIP Parking Lot (near the Southwest Entrance) will charge a fee for parking.

DISABLED PARKING:
While you are welcome to park at any of the lots, please know that there are also parking spaces available for those with a parking placard or plate at the Cross Insurance Agency Corporate Office parking lots at 491 Main Street, located across Buck Street from the Rotunda Entrance. Non-placard vehicles (whether or not the spot is marked handicapped!) will be towed at the owners' expense.
CHECKING-IN AT CONVENTION

  • Everyone should check-in at the Cross Center between 8:45 and 9:45am.
  • Enter through the Rotunda Entrance. Registration tables will be on your left.
  • Registration will cease at 9:45am. 
LATE DELEGATE CHANGES

  • Alternates replacing delegates should report to the Registrar's Table, just past the registration lines, along with their rector (or senior warden in absence of a priest) to be certified.
MATERIALS

  • Everyone will receive a booklet containing the agenda, worship, tally sheet, rules of order and a nametag. Please follow the links posted here if you would like to view these items in advance.
  • Voting members will receive a remote/electronic voting device in their envelope.
ELECTRONIC VOTING

  • Delegates and clergy will be issued a remote/electronic voting device.
  • Instructions on use will be given at the start of convention business.
  • You will be assigned a remote by number and you MUST return this device upon leaving convention or a fee of $75.00 will be issued.
VENUE & SEATING

  • Only voting lay and clergy delegates will be allowed on the floor of convention after Eucharist.
  • Seating for business will be classroom style.
  • Lunch will be served buffet-style (2 stations, 4 lines) located in the reception area.
  • Seating for lunch will be at pre-set round tables in the adjacent ballroom. If you are able, please make your way to the tables toward the back of the room in order to leave the tables closest to the doors free for those who have mobility challenges.

CELL PHONES & COMMUNICATIONS

Please shut off or silence all electronic devices and refrain from tweeting, posting to FB, Instagram, Twitter or other social media, emailing or otherwise communicating the business of this convention. The live-feed is available for those wishing to follow the deliberations of the convention. 
DEPARTING CONVENTION

Please return to your registration station in order to return your remote voting device and to sign the Canonical Testimonials for this Election. Please DO NOT leave the Cross Center until you have signed the testimonial and returned your remote.

While we anticipate being finished by 5pm, the end time of convention is to be determined by the course of balloting. Please plan on remaining until convention is adjourned.
