HHW Collection Events Start Next Month
It's almost here - our first Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) Collection event of 2022 is on April 9th! All residents of RRRASOC member communities are welcome to bring household hazardous waste to these events for an opportunity to safely discard their hazardous items and e-waste.

Before you attend one of our HHW Collection Events, we ask that you familiarize yourself with some of our event rules and tips to keep the event running smoothly:

  • Stay inside your vehicle while at the event. Workers are there to unload the HHW from your vehicle, and any additional foot traffic could slow down the process.
  • Place your HHW in boxes that you do not want back. If workers have to return the bin or tub to you, this will take additional time and slow down the process.
  • Please keep lightbulbs separate from batteries, as the batteries tend to shatter the light bulbs, which can be hazardous for the workers.
  • If possible, please tape the end terminals of your batteries so that they do not touch one another. The improper disposal of batteries could cause fires.
  • Please be patient! Everyone at the event is working hard to keep things running smoothly, but hiccups do happen now and then.
  • The event start time is 9am, which means HHW will not be collected until that time. Early birds are welcome to wait in line in their car, however, please note that collection will not begin before 9am.

Spring Cleanout is Coming!
If your spring cleaning involves cleaning out the closet, don't send your unwanted clothes to the landfill! On select HHW Collection Event dates, Simple Recycling will be present to accept clothing, shoes, accessories, and small household items for donation. See dates below to find out which events will have this option!
Keep your Simple Recycling items separate from HHW when possible.
Please bag items when appropriate.
Paper Shredding
We understand the need to have your sensitive documents shredded - that's why we offer shredding services at our HHW Collection events! Residents may bring up to 3 boxes or 100 pounds of paper for shredding by the onsite mobile shredder.
Sharps - Not HHW!
“Sharps” is a medical term for devices with sharp points or edges that can puncture or cut skin. Examples of sharps include needles, syringes, lancets, and auto injectors (epinephrine and insulin pens). Sharps are not accepted at HHW Collection events; however, you can safely dispose of them by placing them in a rigid plastic container that can be sealed shut and labeled sharps. When the container is full, be sure to seal it, label it, and place it in with your household trash.
Remember! Do not dispose of sharps filled plastic containers with your recyclables. This will endanger the workers on the sorting line at the Material Recovery Facility.

HHW Drop-Off at ERG Environmental Services
If you have HHW that you'd like to properly dispose of before this year's collection events, you're in luck! Drop off your HHW without a fee at ERG Environmental Services during the following hours:

Winter Hours:

Monday - Friday
9:00 AM - 5:00 PM
HHW pickup from your home is also available for a fee of $135 per stop plus $0.75 per pound of material collected. This fee is paid directly by the resident to ERG Environmental Services.
