Visibility, Vulnerability, and Voice
|
|
Greetings!
Last month I was standing in the light celebrating my full and wonderful life. This month I'm feeling a little less bold. Don't get me wrong, I still have a good, rich, and very full life; it's just that it's hard to quell those negative voices inside that cause me to question what I'm doing as I prepare for the visibility and vulnerability that will come with my book launch.
One of my writing coaches once said to me, "If you're going to write a memoir, make it as real as possible; don't hold back." That sounded like great advice because I myself love reading memoirs where the author is willing to show up, be vulnerable, and speak their truth unequivocally. And so I did; I wrote honestly and courageously. Now I'm faced with the consequences. I feel like I've splayed myself open to the world for people to read about my shame, my mistakes, and my failures. The visibility of all that feels raw and edgy. It also feels very human and, at the same time, incredibly empowering.
I wrote the book to inspire others to find themselves in nature, see nature as a mirror and discover the healing and restorative powers of the natural world around us. That's the important thing—that's the take away. I'm working on getting myself and my doubts out of the way and letting the book take its rightful place in the world. And I'm asking for a little help from all of you to make that happen.
Solo Passage: 13 Quests, 13 Questions will make its debut September 26th! I am so humbled and thrilled by the positive reception it has already received. So many of you have already supported me in my writing and I hope you will help me again by spreading the word.
Since the countdown is officially on, I have come up with 4 easy ways you can help me spread the word about Solo Passage leading up to its publication day! I am grateful for each and every one of you and all you have done to rally behind me. I hope you will take some time to do as many of these as you as you feel compelled (or even ALL of them if you are so inclined)!
How you can help support Solo Passage:
-
SOCIAL MEDIA: Check out my Facebook and share news about my book via social media (please tag me when you do, so I can thank you!). Also, feel free to join in the conversation by using the hashtag #SoloPassage13Q when posting about my book!
-
PREORDER THE BOOK: Please consider buying the book! Preorders and sales within the first few days of release are VERY important for a new book launch such as this. You can preorder my book on Bookshop, Indiebound, Amazon or Barnes & Noble.
-
REVIEW: After you have read the book, feel free to post a review or rating of the book across as many outlets as you like including the retailer you purchased from and your social media platforms. Reviews like yours can influence a reader’s decision in whether or not they buy the book. The more reviews, the better!
-
GOODREADS: Add Solo Passage to your shelf on Goodreads and give it a rating (preferably 5 stars but I’ll take what I can get!).
Whatever you decide to do, however big or small, it is incredibly beneficial, and it means so much to me. Thank you for your continued support and encouragement, and please let me know how I can pay it forward.

Kintsugi Breaking and Mending Ceremony
Sunday, October 22, 2023 9:00 - 3:00
The Gathering Place, West Linn, Oregon Facilitated by GG and Elizabeth Hartshorn, LPC (Full Circle Counseling)
Come join us as we delve into the art of breaking and mending as a metaphor for the woundings of life and the beauty that comes from its broken places.
The act of breaking a bowl and mending the “scars” with gold is based on the Japanese art of Kintsugi. Kintsugi teaches us we cannot go back to the way we were before, but instead move forward with our wounding and the beauty it can bring. We accumulate grief, sorrow, pain and carry it with us. This pain is often unseen and unexpressed.
In this ceremony of breaking and mending, you will discover your storehouse of power as you acknowledge your grief and wounding. You will begin to mend that which came before with what is now in your own unique and beautiful way.
Come and experience this restorative ceremony. Break and mend your bowl and honor the place in you where wounding and beauty coexist.
Fee $185 includes all supplies, expert instruction, coffee + tea reception and lunch Early bird discount - Register by September 30th and save $15 (fee = $170.00) Deadline for registration October 8, 2023. No refunds Questions? Need more information? Feel free to email me. Register at Elizabeth@fullcirclecounseling.com
