Being nice to one another differs from loving one another.

Niceness often asks us to keep things pleasant. Love sometimes asks more of us. It may ask us to speak honestly, to listen more carefully, to forgive, to repent, to set a boundary, or to remain in relationship through a difficult moment without pretending everything is fine.

That kind of love is not always easy, but it is part of what makes Christian community more than simple friendliness. We are called not merely to get along, but to learn how to belong to one another faithfully.

This Sunday, we will gather again around word and sacrament, trusting that Christ meets us not only in our joy, but also in the harder work of learning how to love one another well.

You are always welcome at All Saints.

Blessing of the Animals

Sunday, October 4th at 1:00 pm

In celebration of the Feast of Saint Francis of Assisi, All Saints will offer our annual Blessing of the Animals on Sunday, October 4, at 1:00 p.m. in the Labyrinth. We will use the gazebo if the weather is inclement.

Saint Francis is remembered for his joyful recognition that all creation belongs to God and that our lives are bound together with the creatures with whom we share this earth. Each year, the Blessing of the Animals gives us an opportunity to give thanks for the pets and other animals who bring companionship, delight, comfort, and sometimes a little holy chaos into our lives.

Bring your dogs, cats, and other animal companions, or a picture, for a brief outdoor service and individual blessing. For everyone’s safety, please keep animals appropriately leashed or otherwise secured.

This year, we are also inviting everyone who attends to bring a donation of pet food, which will be distributed through the Beach Food Pantry. For families facing financial hardship, caring for a beloved pet can become one more difficult expense. By collecting pet food, we can help our neighbors care for the animals who are part of their families too.

So bring your pets, bring some pet food to share, and join us in giving thanks for the goodness of God revealed in all creation.

All creatures great and small are welcome.

Altar Flowers

Giving flowers for our Sunday services is a lovely way to mark a special occasion or remember someone dear to you. Flowers may be given in honor or in memory of a loved one, or in celebration of a birthday, anniversary, or other special occasion. Your dedication will be included in the Sunday bulletin. The suggested donation is $50. To reserve a Sunday, please sign up on the flower calendar on the bulletin board across from the sacristy. Please make checks payable to All Saints, with Flower Guild in the memo line. It’s a simple and beautiful way to help adorn our worship while giving thanks for the people and occasions that hold a special place in our lives.
