Our wonderful, talented attorney, Monica Da Silva, who has been a member of our team since 2016 had a phenomenal day in court earlier in September. It was a tricky case with a complex legal issue requesting unequal distribution of the marital assets. Normally, the marital assets are divided equally between the parties, unless it is proven there are circumstances pursuant to the statute which would allow the division to be unequal. Monica successfully received 50% of her additional request for division. Our client was extremely happy, especially since he was warned that the request may not succeed.
Furthermore, the judge, who is exacting on the rules he has for exhibits and conduct in the courtroom, complimented both Monica and the opposing attorney for their diligence in following the rules. He said in open court that they were two of the finest attorneys he has ever had before him. He reiterated it to both attorneys in private. Both Monica and opposing counsel worked together before trial to make sure that the exhibits were as he required, as they knew of his requirements. The judge was truly impressed, as was our client extremely happy.
