July 3, 2020 | Special Edition

Please help keep our community safe and free from all fireworks. All fireworks are prohibited in La Habra Heights, including safe and sane fireworks. Those caught with illegal fireworks will be subject to a fine and/or citation; including the confiscation of all illegal fireworks.

The La Habra Heights Fire Department, Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, and City Staff will be patrolling during the weekend of July 3 – 5.

Any embers or sparks emitted from fireworks could potentially ignite a wildfire. Multiple factors such as a high heat, low humidity, strong winds, and a presence of fuel (dead vegetation) play a significant role in just how devastating a wildfire can be. Furthermore, the handling of fireworks could potentially lead to burns, injuries, and death.
Please make sure to complete your parcel(s) Brush Clearance as it is critical in preventing wildfires and protecting structures.

Report any fireworks activity within the City immediately to (562) 631-0299. Reporters are encouraged to provide as much detail as possible such as an approximate location, number of individuals, license plate number and/or car make and model.

It is important to remember that the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) is still a very viable threat to the community. With the number of positive COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations increasing in California and Los Angeles County, it is imperative to follow the State and Los Angeles County Health Officer Orders. Orders allow members of a single household to engage in activities together, but gatherings of any size who are NOT part of the same household are prohibited .

Gatherings involving individuals outside a single household significantly increases the risk of COVID-19 spreading. Remember to follow all CDC guidelines such as: washing your hands, wearing a mask, and cleaning high-traffic areas whenever possible.
Due to COVID-19, Los Angeles County Department of Public Health has issued a temporary Health Officer Order prohibiting all fireworks displays from occurring this Fourth of July Weekend to prevent large public gatherings. The City encourages individuals to have a fun Fourth of July in a safe manner. The following are some ideas to celebrate at home:

  • Decorate your household with red, white, and blue
  • Dust off the croquet and bocce ball set to keep your “qaranteam” entertained
  • Have everyone in your household in their best patriotic gear.
  • Prepare an All-American Menu – Don’t forget the Apple Pie.
