Deck the Halls 2024
Special Edition

Greetings from Deck the Halls
As St. Andrew’s Church approaches this holiday season, we take the opportunity to show the world we are a church that cares about our community and acts on our caring. Deck the Halls is our collective effort to raise funds to support the good work of service agencies in Greensboro. Not only do we put our money where our concerns are, but we do that as a people who work together. We Share the Love.
This Special Edition has two goals:
- Give our St. Andrew's family a sneak preview of what to expect at this year's event.
- Draw attention to the many ways each and every parishioner can help in this effort!
This might be adding another layer to help you’ve already given, or it might be your first step into Deck the Halls. Whichever is true, please read on to find one or several ways to use your time, your talents, to Share the Love.

3. Donate Homemade Baked Goods
Dropoff Days: December 4-5
When we’re Sharing the Love on Dec 7, it’s called Mrs. Claus’s Sweets and Treats. Many of our returning shoppers have fond memories of items they’ve taken home from Deck the Halls and will be back to find their favorites. Or maybe something new. Let’s load the tables! Don’t know what to bring? Consult Nancy Rizzuto, who stands in for Mrs. Claus on matters of bake sales.
Drop-off days for Mrs. Claus’s Sweets and Treats are December 4–5. There is very limited freezer and refrigerator space for food items. If freshness is a concern, donations certainly may be delivered on Friday, December 6, before 2 p.m.
| |
The Wine Pull has been a popular fundraiser and fun-raiser, and all it needs are bottles of wine contributed by parishioners. Wine, wine, and more wine, please--favorites or new-to-you labels. Keep an eye out for bargains, minimum retail price $15. Bring your contributions to the box outside the church office or, on Sundays, the Parish Hall. Contact Marcia Moore with questions.
|
|
Dropoff Days: December 3-4
Boughs of Holly is looking for donations of holly with berries or pieces of cedar that can be used for centerpiece greenery. Bring these to the Parish Hall on December 3–4.
| |
There's a job for everyone at Deck the Halls. If you're looking for more ways to help, please email event chair, Marion Seaman.
Everything that’s been done for Deck the Halls this year, and everything that was done for the many years of seasonal fundraisers that came before, was powered by the dedication of St. Andrew’s volunteers. Thank you to everyone who has shared their time and talents to help make such a wonderfully creative, festive and worthwhile event.

Pat Marsh is sharing her beautiful handmade Chrismons with us this year. Her work tells the story of Christ and reminds us that even as we are working to share the love with others, we are sharing the love of Advent.
Children can look forward to making Chrismons that they can take home to share. Instructions will be provided so that little hands can make more Chrismons as gifts when the opportunity arises during the holiday. Share the Love!

Many Hands Make Light Work
Many hands have been working hard behind the scenes to create the wonderful event that will unfold on Sat., Dec 7 in the Parish Hall. Our church has been alive with activities from checking on tablecloths to making wreaths to planning for our Holiday Cafe. Of course, many activities have been happening outside of our church – in homes, garages and over the phone – to help our plan come together.
Many more hands still are needed for the activity over these next two weeks leading up to December 7. That’s Sharing the Love, and we invite you to join in the fun!
