Join self-advocates, family members, independent facilitators, FMSs, regional center staff, service providers, advocates, and anyone else interested in the Self-Determination Program!

The conference will include keynote speeches by key leaders in California, panels of self-determination experts, and numerous breakout sessions for beginner, intermediate, and advanced self-determined individuals and their supporters.

The conference will take place on an innovative platform that gives conference attendees the ability to network with other participants as well as virtually visit all of the “booths” in our Expo. Our amazing Expo will include FMSs, independent facilitators, service providers, and advocates who can help you get started in your self-determination journey.

Registration Costs
$50 - Individuals served by regional centers and their family members
($75 starting on March 20)

$100 - All others
($100 starting on March 20)

Conference registration includes access to the conference platform and participation in all sessions and Expo plus a conference T-shirt and the Thinking Outside the Box self-determination manual, which will be mailed in advance.

La conferencia incluirá presentaciones de líderes importantes en California, paneles de expertos en autodeterminación y numerosas sesiones de trabajo de nivel principiante, intermedio y avanzado para personas autodeterminadas y sus colaboradores. 

La conferencia tendrá lugar en una innovadora plataforma que les permite a los asistentes conectarse con otros participantes y, además, visitar de manera virtual todos los “pabellones” de nuestra Expo. Nuestra increíble Expo incluirá FMS, facilitadores independientes, proveedores de servicios y defensores que pueden ayudarle a iniciarse en el proceso de la autodeterminación.

Keynote Speaker: Alison Barkoff, Acting Administrator and Assistant Secretary for Aging, Administration on Community Living, U.S. Department of Health and Human Services

As Acting Administrator for the Administration on Community Living, Ms. Barkoff provides executive direction, leadership, guidance and coordination for ACL programs nationwide and advises the HHS Secretary on issues affecting individuals with disabilities and older adults.
Keynote Speaker: Nancy Bargmann, Director, California Department of Developmental Services

Nancy Bargmann was appointed Director of the California Department of Developmental Services (DDS) on March 4, 2016, by Governor Edmund G. Brown Jr. The Department, in conjunction with the 21 private nonprofit regional centers located throughout the State, provides services and supports to over 350,000 Californians with developmental disabilities. Director Bargmann has extensive experience in the developmental services field, both in the private, non-profit and corporate sectors, and the State. From 2012-2015, she served as deputy director of the Community Services Division at DDS where she developed policy and oversaw regional center operations and services.
