Celebrated every June, Pride is an annual observance that honors the LGBTQIA+ community's ongoing struggle for acceptance, equality, and visibility.

Its roots can be traced back to the Stonewall Riots of 1969 in New York City, when patrons of the Stonewall Inn, a gay bar in Greenwich Village, stood against a police raid. This resistance against injustice ignited days of protests and a broader movement demanding equal rights and societal transformation, culminating in the first Pride marches in major U.S. cities in June 1970.

Pride has evolved into an international occasion underscoring the diverse identities within the queer community, as well as addressing the persistent struggles they encounter. It serves as a solemn reminder of the accomplishments achieved and the significant work still required to attain full equality.
